  • Celestron G2 16x32 Roof Prism Binocular review

A fairly good lightweight binocular to tote around in the center console of my car. I would rate the optics as only fair as I cannot bring the binoculars to a sharp focus. There is just a little blur that I cannot focus out. Wouldn't recommend them for serious bird watching or other serious observing, but they'd be okay for identifying a person at, say, 200 yards away, or telling the difference between a rock or a bear at that distance, or a kids first pair of binoculars, etc. Best in broad daylight on a sunny day due to the small front lenses and small exit pupils. For the price, they're okay for non- critical, general purpose observing.

  • catastrophic failure, 2 tubes not aligned = double vision - useless, returned

I have owned more than a dozen binoculars of various sizes and quality, so I know what I'm talking about. It's quite simple: The 2 optical tubes are not aligned with each other. They can not be adjusted in direction, which is usually the case, to avoid problems when they are not aligned. Looking through one side is fine, and looking through the other is fine, but when looking through both sides, the picture does not match. It looks like when you are seriously drunk, double vision, two pictures that your brain is trying to merge into one but can not, causing you headakes and other problems. There is no way to adjust that (for those thinking I just did not turn the ring at the front of each tube, it did not help doing that as this only adjusts clarity/focus, but not direction the tube is ...

  • Really great at any price but for $15 bucks...These compare with the best:)

I really like my 16x32 Celestron's. These are actually good enough to look at planets and even spot Jupiter's Moon's, and Andromeda easily. I had a pair of Bushnell's that where terrible and I got screwed on Bushnell's "lifetime warranty" after they broke. Bushnell Bad :( Especially given the price I'm sold Celestron. I a like the heavy zoom and design a lot more than my busted $175 Bushnell's. I should note have a steady hand, so folks with shaky hands might want a smaller zoom as this has been the only problem I've heard. Really great at any price but for $15 bucks... These compare with the best.
