About this product

Product Information

THE BLOB is one of the quintessential films for lovers of those science-fiction/horror/monster/camp films of the 1950s. A red, gigantic, gooey, gelatinous glob arrives from outer space and proceeds to terrorize a small town. The more it eats, the more it grows. Local teenagers, who have witnessed its obscene display of hunger, are ignored until it seems that it's too late. Can the local bad boy (Steve McQueen, in his first leading role) save his 'burb from the sinister slime--and reform himself in the process? A perennial favorite of Saturday afternoon horror shows, the film is still a joy to watch, as the young McQueen battles his parents and the big protoplasmic hunk of Jell-O.

  • The Definitive Teenage Sci-Fi Movie!

I bought this movie to see if my memory of the film was better than the actual film. I am glad to say that after all these years, the film still hold great thrills and chills, and not only explores the problem of young adults being taken seriously, but also addresses the problems of veterans returning from overseas combat duty. While obviously done on a small budget, by todays standards, the movie doesn't appear cheaply made. Many years ago I found myself in Downingtown PA, where the movie was filmed, and inquired about the Downingtown Diner, where the showdown occurred between The Blob, and Steven. Turns out that the diner was tken down during some phase of urban development. Too bad!

  • Awesome Businessman

The DVD had a very loud buzzing noise so the movie was not watchable, but the sender was extremely generous and apologetic and refunded my money back immediately. Very good person to do business with.
