My First Patterson, and I thought it was GREAT!!!
Beach Road - James Patterson This was My First Patterson, and I thought it was GREAT!!! Many people were dissapointed in this book. It was my first James Patterson novel and I really enjoyed it. I understand where people are coming from when they complain about the writing style, as it can sometimes be confusing, especially if you're engrossed in the book and forget to check the chapter header. I love the short chapters. It makes the book incredibly easy to read before bed (I just can't fall asleep in-midst chapter) Patterson keeps you guessing from the beginning, and when you finally learn the truth... People who give away the ending by complaining about it for whatever reason are doing a disservice to all people reading these reviews. I personally LOVED the ending, it was great, ... Beach Road on Long Island!
I wanted to read this book because I love Long Island and have read quite a few of Patterson books and enjoyed them. This one was somewhat confusing, because it had a lot of characters. The oral reading of the story as always with Patterson's book was fantastic and Baldwin did a great job with his character. The end of the book was a surprise. Not your average who-done-it...it was still a good mystery if even a little confusing to listen to (for me anyway).I wanted to read this book because I love Long Island and have read quite a few of Patterson books and enjoyed them. Let me be clear up front: I love James Patterson books. All of them. Except this one. Did he actually write the majority of this one, or was his second fiddle responsible? The book is very hard to follow at first with all the new character introductions. Each chapter is written with a point of view from a specific character and that was equally difficult. I did not like the style, but my biggest gripe is once the book is done and you go back in your mind to review how it was laid out ... it makes no sense. Without giving up the script, how can the situations happen once you understand the ending? It can't ... so you are grateful for a "cliff hanger", but if you think about it ... it makes absolutely no sense. There are many chapters in the book (things that happened) that were impossible ... I love audio books, and I like James patterson's work. I bought the book becsause James Patterson is one of my favorite authors and because the price was right, I got it at a bargain. This was a great book with a surprising ending.

Good mystery
As an avid mystery fan, how could I pass this up? Aside from some minor lapses and a bit of "borrowing", James Patterson, along with Peter Dejonge deliver some good writing in this tale. Pretty decent story, good delivery. Great ending.
