Shooting with a Z7, this is a rugged and easy to use GP lens. Even though it's the "kit lens", it delivers incredibly sharp pictures, especially at f/5.6 up to 50mm and f/8 up to 70mm. Although the newer Z 24-70mm is coming with f/2.8, its far more expensive, heavier and larger, making this lens a better fit for budget, travel and hiking.

I was hesitant to buy this lens as I seldom purchase a zoom at f4. I was shocked at how sharp edge to edge this lens is. I shoot a lot of events and a 24-70 lens is ideal for that but can get real heavy when it is a 2.8. This lens being f.4 is ideal because most events you have several people together thus you need to shoot at least at f.4 to get everyone sharp The Nikkor Z 24-70 f.4 is sharp edge to edge, light so you don't feel the weight. I love this lens!

Exactly what to expect, the quality of the lens is fine and I dont mind and subtle marks due to usage because it does not affect the image quality or lens effectiveness. The only I have is not with the lens but where it came from. When I received it there was and still is a strong cigarette smell on the lens. I guess this is due to the cheaper price but I was still not expecting to have this sort of issue. Lens works great anyways.

I bought a Z 7II camera body and an FTZ II to use my F mount lens. I was happy with the photos, but kept an eye out for a good deal for my first Z mount lens. As with all my Nikon equipment, it is a solid performer. The day I got the lens, I had an opportunity to take a photo of an orange sky, just after sunset.

It is sharp, reasonably fast focus, and quiet. All in a fairly compact form.
