I love this Camera, had an old school Coolpix which died after 13 years, took out the 64 G SD card and am back in business with a much better Hi Res machine, this Seller is awesome!!!

The lens locks open giving a "lens error" message. Will not allow using telephoto extension of lens. Only will stay at base wide angle position.

The camera is simply amazing, it's just perfect, and the problems strangely are also the reasons why it's perfect. Let me explain, as of this review most cameras now a days are offering up to 14.1megapixels in there camera. This happens to be 12mp, and that's fine. 12,000 pixels is more than enough for let's say portrait shots or just playing around. It's not going to be used to take a picture of vast open landscape. (even if I am). Secondly not many cameras vs. camcorders can claim to record in 1080i or 1080p. Well it does, and it's really sharp with both left and right mic recorders. Thirdly, all of the extras included with my ebay purchase well exceeds my high bidding price. For roughly $269 I got the complete package, which at stores range from $299, and maybe less on not so ... The camera is simply amazing, it's just perfect, and the problems strangely are also the reasons why it's perfect. A memory card wallet, for when I'll need more sd cards. the Camera case maybe $5 to $15. (the case may not have been designed for this camera, but it is funny to see the contours of the camera) 3 screen protectors, $20 instores. (but pennies on ebay) A cleaning kit, $10. My favorite is an external Flash that sychros with the Flash on the camera, just so well needed and fun and easy to use ($20 but worth up to $100)... Anyway my review is more about what I got in my auction, is this review about the camera? Haha look at me writing all all about this. Anyway about the camera. Sure there are cameras currently out there that might have more pixel power, more focal power, etc. etc. What I can imagine is that just as my father in the 80's and earily, had his Nikon's and his Canon's from back in the day, with film, but with with such great lenses and such great everything. This camera is one of those cameras that will will stick out of the others.

Best camera for the money with the most features you can purchase by far!
After using two Canon digital cameras over the past several years and having both of them quit working, I decided to try the Nikon Coolpix S8100 after perusing multitudes of different cameras in the same price to value range. So far, I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. I like to use a telephoto lens and with the 10 power this lens has it really does the job. I take alot of wildlife pictures and this camera delivers. It also makes some of the best video in 1080HD you could imagine. With its built-in stabilization feature it deliveres superb pictures andd videos right down to macro lens closeups. I am really glad I purchased this camera. Jeez, ebay...I'm finally writing a review about my purchase...500 stinking e-mails later. This is the second Coolpix S8100 I bought and I'm still very impressed with it. The factory refurbished unit is an outstanding deal, saving about 50% over retail!! I had to send one unit back due to a malfunction with the lens, but Cameta Camera was terrific and made it a no-hassle situation. The only drawback is the flash setup on the camera. The flash is in a fairly awkward place on the camera, your left finger has a natural tendencey to hold the camera in that location. If the flash was integrated into the front of the camera, it would alleviate that problem. It also has a tendency to "wash out" pictures in certain low light conditions, and Nikon simply recommends to reset the ...
