The BlackBerry 8530 is a great value for the price. I went from a contract plan to a prepaid plan to save money, but I was resigned to the fact that I was going to lose a lot of features I loved - BUT I DIDN'T! This phone has GPS navigation, is an MP3 player, shoots and plays video with a high quality camera, and the BlackBerry apps - many which are free - give me everything I want and more such as weather, Amazon music store, Pandora radio. I also love the touch trackball that allows you to move around the screen and select items and the flexibility to move folders and shortcuts around on your homescreen is good. I also like that you can have all your emails and texts feed into a single folder for easy viewing, or not, the choice is yours. The WiFi connectively is appreciated, too, because it's often a faster connection than your phone's data stream. Never tried BlackBerry but they have a new loyal customer. Great phone that doesn't break the bank.Read full review
Love the phone. takes great pictures, colors and graphics are very clear. The ease of use is pretty good, although somethings I would think should be self explanatory are not. The reception is good. the only thing i hate is the battery life, using any application, regardless of the size, seems to instantly drain the battery. That's disappointing when you have to carefully plan time to use your phone and when you can get to a charger. It's also taking a long time to get used to how tiny the keys are, texting gets to be annoying. But i'm sure to adapt over time. But overall..its a great first smartphone.
i got this product because i needed a new phone and wanted a smart phone. For boost this is the only smart phone i liked. i also wanted BBM and the features that the blackberry offers. i like everything about the product from the apps to the easy set up of my email, texts, facebook, twitter and every-other social application. the only con to this product is the battery life, it is rather short so i have to carry a charger with me, but i don't regret my purchase and don't mind carrying a charger because i love this phone so much!
I bought this phone for my wife, who likes to chat and use social networks on the go. This blackberry curve is a nice phone, is slim, light, the screen resolution is very good, takes terrific pictures but has no flash so you need good light to take them. With blackberry app world you can download apps like facebook (which by the way, sometimes causes the phone system to crash), twitter, and so on. The bad: The battery duration is terrible. My wife makes a low amount of calls but anyways, she need to connect the phone to the charger by the mid day because the battery is draining out. This is a point to consider. I don´t know if i need to buy some larger duration battery, but this is dissapointing considering any phone should last at least the entire day.
I pretty much love everthing about this phone, i love boost, this is my third boost phone lol, they have all been good phones just i wanted better lol and this is by far the best, i've been with boost for 3 years now and nothing compares to their price and service, the phone is great, love how many apps there are out there, theres an app for everything, the 3g internet is so fast on it, can take a pics and then the next sec upload it to facebook, just an overall amazing phone, wish more of the apps were free but there still are alot of free apps, but i've had an android phone, not for boost and every andriod phone i know has like 3 times the free apps, like if i want something they would get for free its not mush but still lol, oh other then having to buy some apps, the battery seems to suck, like idk why, i get like 6 hours and then need to charge it again thats with me not using it much, maybe checking it and texting every 20 mins, but other then that i rate the phone an 8/10, if you want a smart phone, this is it, if you want a gps this is it, free app for that by the way lol, if you wanna be able to have an mp3 player this is in, takes good pictures, just can say enough about it lol,Read full review
This has been a great phone in every area. Web,email, text, talk, messaging are all fast clear easy to learn. I have read others that review phones and they usually leave out the most important part and that to me is call quality. The call quality on this phone is crystal clear and the ringer volumes can be turned up so I can here my phone ring in other rooms(55 yrs old). The battery life was another great surprise, Taking and receiving 10 to 12 calls,5 to 10 texts and 10 or so emails a day I can comfortably go an entire weekend Fri-Mon on a charge. The Boost service in my area has out performed AT&T, Cricket, Cingular and Straight Talk. There customer service has been good,on par with the major carriers. The unlimited Blackberry Plan with Shrinkage makes it the best plan I was able to find. My only concern is the coverage map when I travel is not as good as most other Carriers.Read full review
As a former AT&T iPhone user disenfranchised by steadily increasing hidden fees, I decided to give Boost Mobile a try when they began carrying the Blackberry Curve 8330. While it was a great phone for it's day, the 8330 was several years old and severely lacking on memory by the time Boost picked it up, making it less than ideal for running multiple applications. Boost heard the concerns of their customers and quickly picked up the much more efficient Blackberry Curve 8530, which trumps the older 8330 in nearly every way. Aesthetically, the most notable feature is the lack of a trackball, which was notorious for getting clogged with pocket lint. It has been replaced by a new touch-sensitive trackpad, which admittedly takes some getting used to, but widely outperforms the trackball. The physical size of the 8530 is very similar to its predecessor, albeit just a bit thinner. You will find the button layout to be nearly identical as well, although the 8530 has unfortunately opted for smaller shift keys, which is a small gripe and can be easily adjusted to. The addition of rewind, play/pause and fast forward keys have been added to the top of the phone, which are a welcome addition for those that prefer keeping their Blackberry holstered while listening to music. Not much has changed in the way of the screen, as the size and resolution are identical to the 8330, although the 8530's appears to be slightly brighter. The phone comes equipped with the final version of the 5.0 OS, although the menu layout has improved from the 8330 - there are now 6 shortcuts available on the home screen, and the application icons themselves are larger, making them more distinguishable. The voice reception is excellent on both the handset and included headphones with built-in mic. The speakerphone is loud and audible, and is even loud enough to listen to music in a small room. Web browsing is much improved thanks to the addition of Wi-Fi capability. Unfortunately, the 8530 does not come packed in with a holster like the 8330 did, which most BB users know can tremendously help with battery life. This leads me to the only 2 downfalls of the 8530 in comparison to it's older brethren - the battery life is somewhat shorter, and the 2MP camera does not have a flash! This may not be detrimental, but is still inexcusable considering much older BBs have this feature. What really makes this phone stand out from the pack though, is that it comes equipped with 256MB of on-board memory, up from a measly 96MB on the 8330. This means that you will no longer need to reset your phone on a daily basis, and will no longer find yourself doing a battery pull at inopportune times. With the vast and quickly-expanding Blackberry App World, you'll have plenty of room for the great apps, many of them free - including Facebook, Twitter, Pandora and Google Maps. Room for additional pictures, documents and music is no problem either, as the upgradable memory slot accommodates all sizes of MircoSD cards. If you're a smartphone user that has grown tired of being stuck in a multi-year contract with one of the big companies and find your bill to be ever-increasing, even when staying within limits, this phone is for you. It's not quite an iPhone 4 or Droid X, but with many of the same apps for only $60 per month and the opportunity to shrink your bill to $45 after 18 on-time monthly payments, it's really hard to turn down - simply the best prepaid phone available.Read full review
The blackberry 8530 is a very good phone, if you already like Blackberry then this phone will be great for you. I personally like a bigger screen for surfing the internet and I am use to a touch screen, so I was looking for something different, but many other people like Blackberry for its reliability, long battery life, and good quality. Overall a very good phone if you dont need a touch screen, or a big screen.
I love the size of the phone. I love to go yo parties and it can be put in my purse or placed in my blouse for safe keeping. It is also very easy to use (even though I haven't discovered all the features yet) whether your sending a text, answering a phone call or sending an email. I am happy I upgraded to a blackberry. :)
Very good phone, easy to use, camera need flash and y have problem with email configuration. The gps application work grate, the main key its little hard to used but generally work fine
