I like and use Leica laser distance meters because their measurement speed and aiming crosshairs are better than others that I have tried. I have a fancy Hilti complete with actual camera but measurement speed is slow and it is hard to target small things like power lines. The Leica meters do just fine with that. I think the newer Leica's may be better - they have ways to initiate a measurement without having to press a button. Pressing a button and holding on a small target is difficult. Who knows, maybe the newer Hilti's are faster? I have a personal X4 that I use and like. I had my employer buy an X4 and the screen broke even with infrequent use. The screens are very delicate - they can crack underneath the outside plastic surface. This X4 screen apparently cracked even though the outside surface is perfect. I did get Leica to warranty it but that was not an easy feat. The meter looked brand new and it lives in it's case. I can only figure the screen got pressed on too hard, breaking something underneath the screen's surface Read full review
