A Great Series
I borrowed the series from the local public library and liked it so much that I purchased on eBay. It is very well done. The graphics, including great art work, are fantastic. The narration is exceptional, and the content is very well done. Having traveled to some of these places, it was refreshing to have the story told and then having current scenes of the related places. I highly recommend the series to any serious Bible student. It examines various positions on scholarship related to Bible events so that the viewer can examine his or her own understandings in light of the archeology and evidence being presented. I must say A&E spared no money in the producing and filming on location this series which is filled with heresies as well as atheistic ideology. Instead of the series possibly helping strengthen a Christian or Jew's faith, the series does it's utmost to attempt to tear it apart. Several well reputed scholars are interviewed and it is evident that most of them are nonbelievers who appear very smug in there self-sure dogma.SOme of the Roman Catholic priests and Protestant ministers that are interviewed, do not put forth opinions which any pious Christian (who has read and studied the Old and New Testament) would accept. One rabbi admits he does not believe the Torah is the infallible word of God but filled with "stories, some of them may or may not have happened as it was written"; and one ... I have watched two of the DVDs so far. I find them to be objective in the presentation. What is most important for me is that they fill in some of the blank spots of the history of Biblical times that the Bible has. For instance: The history of Herod the Greats empire and why his influence was so strong. This DVD can be found used for ten dollars or so. I think you will find them worth it.
