An epic tale of one of the greatest rulers of India, ASOKA is a testament to the redemptive power of love. Asoka inherited India's throne in third century B.C. The Indian dynasty was poised to conquer the entire peninsula and the king began his reign by leading the charge. However, the emperor found greater meaning in the love of two women and was soon transformed, renouncing warfare and adopting the principles of the Buddha. This 2001 Indian biopic of the peaceful leader is a work of great political and dramatic significance.

    not worth buying

    subtitles are unreadable-light letters against light background. cannot follow dialogue. story itself is disjointed and makes no sense. Asoka was major figure from history and this film does nothing to show him as he was and to tell his story. waste of time

    SHAH RUKH KHAN,those eyes,that mouth, that dimpled smile whats not to love? Aside from all that this. is a good film . IT HAS ACTION, intrigue and of couse romance. This one has more drama and its well done by the entire cast, I would have given it an excellent rating except for a little chopprd editing. If your an SRK fan, its worth the money.

    Great movie

    You get all the features that are listed even the director's part. Gives a very nice story about the making of Asoka. Shahrukh khan is dazzling in this movie as with all his others. If you are an SRK fan this is definitly a must.

    Awesome movie! Very Very Happy!!!!!!!!

    I absolutely Luv this movie! I had purchased a copy a while back and let a friend borrow it, but never got it back, So I had to purchase a new copy! This movie rocks! The music is great as well as the great story line!!!

    Asoka

    It's a love story with beautiful music and a story line that brought tears to my eyes. It's a classic movie that lasts for years to come. I dare to compare the making of Asoka with my Fair Lady, not to say that they have a similiar story line but it's the kind of movie that I will always have in my collection of classics.
