About this product

Product Information

"Once upon a time, I thought faeries lived only in books, old folktales, and the past. That was before they burst upon my life as vibrant, luminous beings, permeating my art and my everyday existence, causing glorious havoc...." In the long-awaited sequel to the international bestseller Faeries, artist Brian Froud rescues pixies, gnomes, and other faeries from the isolation of the nursery and the distance of history, bringing them into the present day with vitality and imagination. In this richly imagined new book, Brian reveals the secrets he has learned from the faeries -- what their noses and shoes look like, what mischief and what gentle assistance they can give, what their souls and their dreams are like. As it turns out, faeries aren't all sweetness and light. In addition to such good faeries as Dream Weavers and Faery Godmothers, Brian introduces us to a host of less well behaved creatures -- traditional bad faeries like Morgana le Fay, but also the Soul Shrinker and the Gloominous Doom. The faery kingdom, we find, is as subject to good and evil as the human realm. Brilliantly documenting both the dark and the light, Good Faeries/Bad Faeries presents a world of enchantment and magic that deeply compels the imagination.

  • Beautiful and very informative! Must for Froud fans.

I have been an admirer of Brian Froud's work for years. I belong to the World of Froud Website. I've been collecting his work for years. I am in the process of replacing some of it because I believe my ex-husband kept some of it. Strangly enough, when we separated, he had no interest in it. Then he "became sweet" on a girl he met on the internet. She was into Brian Froud things, so he bought the Faerie's Oracle, and a few other of his books. That's alright; I'm just glad he was finally able to appreciate Mr. Froud's work. The pictures in the book are amazingly beautiful, as I expected. I am happy to have more information about faeries. I know that many people believe in angels; so Mr. Froud's explanation about angels being "grown-up faeries" made sense to me. There is another ...

  • A beautifully illustrated volume for faerie lovers

I love this book cover to cover! Beautiful vibrant images and descriptions that will bring a smile to your face, maybe even make you giggle. Brian Froud has done it again with this book...For faerie and art lovers alike, this book will satisfy the young and old. It gives you an inside look to the faerie realm, through Brian Froud's eyes. Not just for your entertainment but informative as well. I recommend this book to everyone, with the exception of the very young. Brian Froud is one of the greatest artist I know of. As a fellow artist, I as well as froud appreciate the mortal and immortal form. So with some nudity in the art some parents may want to view the book before deciding to give it to young children. It is not lude or disgusting by any means. It is very tastefully done in a way ...

  • Good Faeries Bad Faeries

I bought the book because i wanted further information of faeries and I already have Faeries by Brian Froud. I enjoy the way this writer tells us all about the land of the fae. Now I get to learn of the good and the bad. Love how this is truly 2 books in one the way it is seperated is after you finish one book you have to turn it over to read the other...fasinating.. also there is no way I could explain how wonderful Brian Froud illistrates the fae's any one that likes faeries or would love to know more would love this book. I highly recommend this book. Mine holds a proud place in my bookcase. I will have to say I will be reading it over and over that is how wonderful it truly is.

  • Really good quality for a used book.

The book was bought for my wife who has loved fairies since being a little girl, she is very pleased with the quality of the book, though she thinks some of the fairies are a little scary, she hasn't read the book yet, but has looked at the pictures.
