I got this DVD for my 2 1/2 year old grandson who really liked it. This is the third Arthur movie he has seen. The other two are Arthur's Celebration and Arthur's Family Vacation which he watched daily for about a month. I thought he would enjoy a new movie and this movie did not fail me. He watched this movie every day for about two weeks and this happened to be before Christmas although he doesn't quite understand this holiday yet. It's delightful to hear him laugh at the funny parts. He doesn't talk yet, but makes guttural sounds trying to talk at the exciting parts of the movie. His favorite selection is Baxter Day in which Buster, Arthur's best friend, imagines what it is like to have a day called Baxter Day. It's a day of fun and relaxation, a day that a typical kid would just love. The song sang is very catchy and enjoyable. The movie is an hour long and has all of Arthur's friends and family in the episodes. If you like Arthur stories, you'll like this animated movie. There are a lot of singing which is perfect for the holiday season.Read full review
This is a special episode of Arthur for the holiday season. In this show Arthur wants a perfect Christmas, but that is not how it turns out, however he learns that it is the imperfections that help make life enjoyable and lead to unexpected fun. This video also teaches about different holiday traditions including Chirstmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. Great for kids to watch during the holiday season and learn a little about holiday traditions that may not be like their own.
If you are an Arthur fan you'll want to include this along side "The Grinch" and other favorite holiday viewing for the kids. Arthur's friends are Jewish and African- American;so there are those celebrations included as well. Mark Brown has done well in introducing young viewers to various religious and cultural celebrations. We also like it because D.W is so much like Mary , our daughter.
I watched this on PBS eight years ago and enjoyed it very much. Christmas is a time where movies seem better because of the time. If this Arthur video was a Halloween themed video I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Now is this Miracle on 34th Street? No, of course not. I wouldn't even call this Charlie Brown's Christmas. But it is a movie I will probably watch every year for Christmas.
I really enjoyed this movie when it was presented by the public broadcast system. I always wanted it and I am glad I ordered it through e-bay. I can always use this DVD for work. Cheryl
