I wanted to buy it because we'd recorded it on the DVR at christmas time and a few weeks ago someone erased it by "accident". MY grandson was devastated, since it won't be on again till next christmas. So I figured I look on ebay and try to find an old one since he has a vcr player in his room already I went with Vhs. My family and I curl up every holiday season and have hot chocolate and watch the Grinch. Somehow this year we missed it, and in fear of messing up our holiday tradition I decided to purchase one on eBay (just in case of future holiday mishaps, as well!!) This video is the original classic that my husband and I have been watching since WE were kids!! Perfect in every way!! LOVE IT!!
I love this cartoon! My son loves it too. We did not have it and so I took advantage of the low price and won this item. The Grinch story is a great story of redemption. Once having a cold hardened heart and then having a heart bursting with love and joy. Although it doesn't mention the true meaning of Christmas (The celebration of our Saviour's birth), it does have a good message for kids and adults alike.
If we had to do over we would have gotten the DVD. The video lived up to its price. It was cheap and the quality of the video was just that. It is probably fairly old and would not track properly in a new VCR. Even in an older unit that we could adjust the tracking manually, it still did not play well. We will probably break down and purchase the DVD version for next Christmas.
How the Grinch stole Christmas - a childhood favorite of mine - the re-make doesn't do the original justice - nothing compares with the sinister voice of Boris Karloff ! My Son's girlfriend had never seen the original (she's 33) - I purchased this not only for my Son's girlfriend to see but to also be able to share it with my Granchildren in the future.
I love this movie because I have watched it every Christmas or Christmas Eve since I was little. Now I'm in my twenties and I still look for it on the preview channel during the holiday season. I decided to buy it so that I can have it every year and even if I'm busy when it's playing on television, I'll still be able to carry on my tradition of watching it. You are never too old to love this movie, and I know when I have kids some day I'll watch it with them!
I have seen many versions of this popular childhood story/movie. This movie is a little on the annoying side. Everyone knows that the main character (Jim Carey) can be pretty funny...especially when he does not try. In this movie, he trys way too hard and it ruins the movie for my taste. Trying too hard makes it non-funny.
the kids and i love this movie. it gets us ready for christmas. the movie has a good lesson to be learned. it great for the whole family.
This is the best version...the one we see every Christmas...the one with the voice of Boris Karloff as the narrator. I liked Jim Carey's version and everyone should have a copy of that one too but EVERYONE has to have a copy of this animated version.
