* LaFlesh, who maintains the popular web site tightlycurly.com , has resplendent, long curls on the cover of this informative and inspiring book for people whose hair texture is tightly curled or coiled. But as her photographic hair journey depicts, this was not always the case. She discusses the damaging hair-styling practices that she used in her quest for manageable hair, sprinkling her book with humorous anecdotes. Through research and trial and error, LaFlesh discovered a hair-care regime that works with her natural curliness, and the result is beautiful, healthy hair. She offers readers practical advice on proper tools, products, and styling techniques, avoiding caustic chemicals and heat. LaFlesh's tips on styling biracial children's hair will be a godsend to their parents. There is also a technical section on hair structure. VERDICT The styling methods may not work for everyone, given the variance of textured hair, but this good introduction to holistic hair care will be embraced by the novice as well as the hair obsessed. Pair it with Paula Begoun's Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me for a well-rounded beauty and grooming collection. -Ajoke Kokodoko, Oakland P.L. As described... A+++ on shipping and price... C (and that's being generous) on time. If you have forever and a month of Sundays to wait around then by all means do so. The price was great and the seller communicated wonderfully and the item was packed well so it wasn't damaged during transit all A pluses in my book just took a little bit longer than I anticipated.

  • Absolutely LOVE this book!

I'm a fan of her blog and a subscriber to her YouTube channel. But this book fully explains her conditioner method. Not only does it go into full detail about this method for growing healthy hair and RETAINING it but it also gives styling ideas. Teri goes into the science of hair, helping us to understand why our hair may seem different when it's wet or even why it is more fragile after coloring, etc. With this knowledge, one can make an educated decision as to what they are willing to do to their hair by knowing the pros and the cons of it all. Another aspect of this book that I really appreciated was the background information of the author's hair struggles throughout life. I think we can all relate to some part of her hair woes-if not all of them! I was one of the people who saw ...

  • Never too late

After many year of struggles with my hair at last I found valued information that I sincerely hope I would knew it before when I was younger, but never is too late. I hope others may find it sooner, than me in their lives so dealing with their curly hair will be much easier.

  • This is the only book you need when you have curly hair

I can not tell you how much I enjoy reading this book, I wonder why it took me so long to purchase it. Teri hit the nail right on the head of what it's like to have curly hair and to not know how to work with it. The journey of trail and error is so funny in many ways. I would highly recommend it to anyone out there is is either working with curly hair of their own/or if they have a little one that they are trying to fix/comb their hair. It means a lot to have great control of your curls.
