Well-crafted adapter, slightly out of tolerance
High quality adapter, made of black coated aluminum; no discernible play on either side of the mount. Inside surfaces also have black coating, cutting down on unwanted reflections. About twice as expensive as other comparable adapters; Unit works well with my Sony a6000; focal plane looks even throughout the image. However, with two of my 1960's style Nikkor-S manual focus lenses (50mm f/1.2 and 35mm f/2.8), it was NOT POSSIBLE TO FOCUS TO INFINITY. As-is, the adapter focused up to a maximum distance of about 9 meters/30 feet. The issue was traced back to a slightly too long adapter (likely out of tolerance) and was readily addressed as follows: Removed the 5 screws holding down the steel metal flange on the Nikon side; sanded down the back (normally hidden) side of the flange by about ... High quality adapter, made of black coated aluminum; no discernible play on either side of the mount. Inside surfaces also have black coating, cutting down on unwanted reflections. About twice as expensive as other comparable adapters; Unit works well with my Sony a6000; focal plane looks even throughout the image. However, with two of my 1960's style Nikkor-S manual focus lenses (50mm f/1.2 and 35mm f/2.8), it was NOT POSSIBLE TO FOCUS TO INFINITY. As-is, the adapter focused up to a maximum distance of about 9 meters/30 feet. The issue was traced back to a slightly too long adapter (likely out of tolerance) and was readily addressed as follows: Removed the 5 screws holding down the steel metal flange on the Nikon side; sanded down the back (normally hidden) side of the flange by about 0.2-0.3mm - using Norton 150C Fine Grit sand paper, placed grit side up on a perfectly flat surface, moving and rotating only the flange by hand (with sand paper kept firmly in place). When done, washed flange with soapy water to remove all metals dust, dried thoroughly, then reinstalled the flange with its 5 screws. RESULTS: Both Nikkor lenses now focus comfortably, just a tad beyond infinity; Lenses remain firmly in place with no play - same as before sanding. Note: Despite its shiny metallic finish, sanding revealed the core of the flange to be soft brass (not stainless steel).
