Just what I needed
I needed an outlet to plug in my camper. This box is weatherproof and allows you to close the lid with the cord plugged in. That keeps the plug and outlet dry when it's raining. It's rated at 30 amps and 120 volts. Now I can keep my camper plugged in all the time and don't have to keep buying gas for my generator. I am very happy with it.

30a rv outlet okay, but weak socket...
Well made metal box, but the rv socket does not hold the male camper plug in place snugly. First time i plugged the cable in from the camper it popped right out. I had to bend the cable so it would just hang from the socket and it does function but i may have to replace the socket.

I bought this to replace my existing 30 amp outlet that i installed on the side of my garage years ago. The old outlet was a dangerous cobbled mess. I bought a 30 amp outlet and a "blank" box not made for the outlet. I ended up rigging something up so the outlet was secured in the box, but the contacts were a fraction of an inch from making contact (grounding out) to the box. I cringed every time i plugged in and unplugged my camper (every weekend). This is a very clean, easy installation, and best of all DONE RIGHT. Box and outlet are of great quality and my cord plugs in TIGHT.I bought this to replace my existing 30 amp outlet that i installed on the side of my garage years ago. I don't comprehend the use of the term "temporary" as a plug can remain inserted while the cover is in the closed position keeping out mal weather! This outlet is for travel trailers etc. using only 120 volts, it is not a double-pole 120/240-volt type.
