About this product

Product Information

Pretend, (practically) perfect puppies come to life in this triple-release line of pet simulators from Nintendo. In Nintendogs, players adopt, raise, and train an impressively intelligent virtual dog, of a breed they choose. In addition to Miniature Dachshunds, this version of the game offers Golden Retrievers, Beagles, Pugs, Siberian Huskies, and Shih Tzus. The dogs can be taught a number of tricks, and even entered into virtual dog shows to earn cash for useful items.

The most distinguishing elements of the DS interface allow players to interact with their pets. The touch screen is used to for physical interaction. Rub the puppy's belly and he might kick his leg; poke his foot and he'll pull it back in surprise. The stylus is also used to manipulate in-game items, including the dog's leash and variety of toys. Players must communicate with their dogs by voice, as well, and a new puppy may need to hear the name he's given (spoken into the DS microphone) numerous times before he learns to respond properly.

In addition to the regular attention he'll expect from his owner, the puppy will appreciate a chance to interact with other computer-generated canines. Nearby Nintendogs players can meet in virtual community parks, supported by the DS' wireless capabilities, where their dogs can romp and frolic together. Each of the three versions of Nintendogs is distinguished by a title species (the other two are Chihuahua and Labrador Retriever), but all editions of the game are designed to interact with one another, regardless of breed.

One of the best games for kids

I played this game when it came out (I was around 10) and i LOVED it. I just bought my daughter (2 years old) a DSI XL and she LOVES this game. So fun and great for kids. You don't really have to do anything and it's super easy! One of my favorite games overall and I'm 23 now lol Would definitely recommend for kids and they'll love playing it

  • Nintendogs..a Good Game!

I purchased Nintendogs a few weeks ago, and have been playing it ever since. My friends had said that it was a fun game, and since we had just gotten a new Nintendo DS Lite, I decided to buy it. Some of the good things about the game: -It has great graphics. The game's graphics are so life like, it's like you are there. -There are many different breed choices. (It was so hard for me to decide.) -You get to choose your dogs name, train it, feed it, bathe it, the list goes on. Since I can't own a dog (I am allergic), I really like it, because it's like I really do have a dog. -It teaches me to be more responsible. I have to take care of him, every day, even if it's just feeding him. I am always saying to my parents "I have to feed Max"(My dog) and they understand. The bad things: -The game ...

  • Very cute game!

My eight year old LOVES this game, she plays it every day to "check on her puppy." It takes some patience to teach the puppy tricks and to train them, but i think it gives a little taste of what its like to care for a real pet. You have to take it for walks and clean up after it, buy it food and water and bath it every day or two. You can even walk to the bark park to play frisbee and play with other dogs. It makes great use of the DS touch screen, probably not a game for everyone though since there isn't alot of action. Overall very cute, I even find myself playing it sometimes.

  • Great use of the DS mic

This is a very interactive game. Time goes on in the game even when you are not playing it (which can be either good or bad). It also has a very big use of the microphone in the DS so that you can "talk" to your dog and give it commands. So far that function works just fine except my dog fails to recognize his name (which is probably my fault). Everything is so far so good, but it might become boring to me later on. Not sure about other people! I have just started the game off with a husky! XD

  • Cute Game for Passing Time

This is a cute game and is easy to get sucked into, but it's not super exciting or fun and I was expecting a lot more from it when I purchased it. I like the walks, finding the surprises on the way, the park, training & competitions. Giving them baths, brushing, & taking care of them is fun. Trying on all the different accessories that you find is fun. (especially love the mariokart & the helicopter special finds... they're so funny to play with). I don't like that you can only have 6 dogs total. I wanted to be able to have at least have one of every breed, but after 6 you have to give up a dog to make room for a new one. After all the training, advancement & care taking of the dogs you get a little attached & it's not cool that you have to erase them. So when you "unlock" a new breed, ...
