Synopsis
Alex Cross travels to Los Angeles to hunt for a killer more brutal and ambitious than he's ever encountered--a woman who has it in for Hollywood's hottest players. Is this the plan of an obsessed fan or a spurned actor, or is it part of something much more frightening?, FBI Agent Alex Cross is on vacation with his family in Disneyland when he gets a call from the Director. A well-known actress was shot outside her home in Beverly Hills. Shortly afterward, an editor for the Los Angeles Times receives an e-mail describing the murder in vivid details. Alex quickly learns that this is not an isolated incident. The killer, known as Mary Smith, has done this before and plans to kill again. Right from the beginning, this case is like nothing Alex has ever been confronted with before. Is this the plan of an obsessed fan or a spurned actor, or is it part of something much more frightening? Now members of Hollywood's A-list fear they're next on Mary's list, and the case grows by blockbuster proportions as the LAPD and FBI scramble to find a pattern before Mary can send one more chilling update.

  • Another great book from Patterson!

Mary, Mary is Another great book from Patterson! I loved it all the way till the end, and then I really didn't like it so much. Don't get me wrong, this book is well written, and traps you in its mystery. The ending just doesn't do it for me. I don't know what it was about the ending that made me so mad, but I just felt dissapointed by it. It wasn't predictable, and it was a good twist, something just didn't sit well with me. I wish I could just tell you the ending and tell you exactly why I didn't like it, but I don't want to ruin the story for anybody else. Final Verdict: 3/5 Borrow or Buy?: If you're a Patterson fan the ending won't bother you (my mother loved it) but being new to Patterson, I think this isn't his best work. That being said, up until the part that ...

  • Definite page turner

I'll generally read anything by James Patterson since I read the first Alex Cross book, but having read other offerings by him, I prefer the Alex Cross novels the best. A timeworn detective with family issues who also happens to be a psychologist. Why would a psychologist have family problems? They do, and that makes the storyline more plausible and relative to the general reader. Cross is to Patterson what Rime is to Deaver. If you enjoy Cross, check out Deaver's novels with Lincoln Rime also. Great storyteller. I couldn't put the book down and read it in one night. Would have loved for it to be longer, wasn't entirely thrilled with the a relatively unknown character being pulled in as a culprit, but on the whole, great story.

  • Very Enjoyable Alex Cross Novel!

I'll make this brief, for those familiar with James Patterson and Alex Cross, this is a welcome addition to the series - a very enjoyable read! It's your regular Patterson Who-Dunnit and you surely won't be disappointed! The saga between Alex and his ex continues into areas that make you downright angry, but.... concerning that, it has a suprise ending that I won't mention. For those not familiar with Patterson or Cross, then this is really a quick and exciting read that will leave you guessing until the very end...maybe. Patterson doesn't leave you in the dust either. You can pick up this book and still not be lost in the series. If anything, it makes you want to pick up the books from the beginning of the series. It would be worth your while to do so. Getting to know Alex ...

  • MARY MARY

THIS WAS MY FIRST JAMES PATTERSON/ALEX CROSS BOOK AND I MUST SAY I WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED. FROM THE VERY FIRST PAGE MY INTEREST WAS ENGAGED AND I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. IT WAS A VERY EASY READ WITH NO BORING, RAMBLING PAGES THAT SEEM TO GO NOWHERE AND DO NOTHING TOWARDS ONE'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE PLOT OR CHARACTERS. ANYONE CAN ENJOY THIS STYLE OF WRITING. I FINISHED THE BOOK TOO SOON FOR MY LIKEING AS IT WAS THAT GOOD! THIS BOOK TAKES YOU RIGHT INTO THE PLOT AND DOESEN'T STOP. ALWAYS WONDERING WHAT MARY WILL DO NEXT. NOW I'M A FAN.
