    This item was exactly as described. I unboxed it, plugged it in, and was able to use it right away. Listed as a refurbished item, but I couldn't tell the difference between it and a new TV, except for the much lower price! I'm very happy with this seller and this purchase. I would happily buy from them again. And thank goodness the seller packed it well because FedEx ran it through the wringer for about 4 days before finally delivering it (entirely the fault of FedEx and not at all the seller).

    Sony BDP S1700 Blu Ray DVD Player Region Free

    Received this Blu Ray player and when we plugged it in it has played every type of disc except one disc that turned out to be defective. Pros: Plays any kind of disc - no setup for discs from other countries outside of the USA. The picture is really clear and crisp - absolutely beautiful! The remote control is easy to learn. The buttons on it are not too small. Small size physically about 9 inches wide. Cons: Only two buttons on the front: Eject and Power - All other functions are handled by the remote control.

    Not satisfied. Has an issue. Resolution is great though.

    The resolution is great. The problem with it is that it stalls at random times during playback, brings up the chapter bar, then skips ahead. It does this with various DVDs that play normally in other players. I then have to hunt around for where it left off and attempt to find out what I missed. Half the time I just give up and skip ahead. Not a great way to watch a movie.

    I bought this item specifically because I needed a bluray player that could read a hard drive. This thing is great! Have not used the LAN part of it yet but it has Netflix capability.

    Sony BDPS1700 WIRED Streaming Blu-Ray Disc Player

    This unit is about as simple as you can get. On the front, there is an EJECT button and a Power on/off button. That's it. There is no 'fast forward' or 'fast reverse' button. And there is no start/stop button. You must use the remote control for those functions. On the back there is a USB out, an HDMI in, and a Digital out (with RCA connector). The unit itself is very small. It looks tiny sitting next to my surround sound receiver. It provides an excellent Blu Ray picture. The sound is also excellent. No complaints at all.

    How to fix product power-on problem

    This product SONY BDPS1700 may appear to have a problem even just turning on, but it can be fixed by searching internet with "SONY BDP-S1700 power on problem. First, you need to first turn on the power by: Turn off power by disconnect power adapter line in > Wait 30 seconds > plug in power > press "Eject" button on player, while simultaneously press "Eject", "Play" and "Stop" buttons on the remote. This is very awkward, and you will need a helping hand. Then use the remote control to change the settings: Home > Setup > System Settings > HDMI Settings > Control for HDMI:OFF. The last step would also change "Link to TV off" to Invalid. Then the product could work independently (not subject to Bravia Sync).
