The scenes in the movie, The Young Victoria, are tastefully done and the story is very well-written by Julian Fellows. Emily Blunt is an amazing Queen Victoria and Rupert Friend is perfect as Prince Albert. As for all of the other actors, they are superb in their roles as well! Two thumbs up for The Young Victoria!

I first watched Young Victoria on a British Airways flight to London when it first released in Europe...and waited nearly a year for it to be available in the States so that my wife could see it. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the movie the second time (and on a larger screen!). The love story between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was portrayed wonderfully. The heart and character of both Victoria and Albert were revealed in a fresh way. Oftentimes the images of Queen Victoria that I had in my mind were of an old somber lady dressed in black, with a stoic countenance. Those archaic pictures now have new meaning, having "witnessed" on screen the love relationship between Albert and Victoria in their youth; and now understanding the intense empty feeling the Queen must have experienced when her husband died, especially with her having grown up sheltered and protected from nearly all other meaningful relationships. The movie portrayed how Victoria truly loved Albert; the loss of that love must have devasted the Queeen when her Albert died of typhoid after only 20 years of marriage. No wonder the Queen wore black for the next 40 years of her reign. After watching the movie, my wife kept saying for the rest of the evening, "It is so sad they were married so few years together." The scenery and sets in the movie were grand and completely appropriate for the era. The actors portrayed their roles splendidly. We also appreciated that while a love story, it was rated PG, so that our kids can get a glance into history as well as enjoy the interesting story line. Young Victoria is certainly one of our favorite movies.Read full review
Very entertaining and romantic story of Queen Victoria and her beloved husband Albert. Emily Blunt was fantastic as Victoria. If you liked Rupert Friend's performance in Hit Man 47 or Homeland, you'll love his portrayal of Prince Albert.

Excellent account of Queen Victoria and Albert's courtship. Engaging movie. I think the scene of Queen Victoria's attempted assassination shouldn't have been included, because it never happened. Although, there were several attempts throughout her life.

Sweet-natured movie. Nice relief from Game of Thrones, Infinity Wars and the like. Emily Blunt is wonderful actress. And her prince was definitely charming.
