REVIEWS OF THE FIRST EDITION "The Eye in Contact Lens Wear is likely to become required reading for all conscientious contact lens practitioners and I would strongly recommend it." Contact Lens Monthly "Dr Larke is to be congratulated for having provided a unique overview of this expanding area of ocular health." American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics " ...it will continue to provide the most comprehensive reference text on the subject for the modern practitioner." New Irish Optician, March 1997 REVIEWS OF THE SECOND EDITION "This paperback follows the 1985 edition with considerable improvement and is worthy of attention by all practitioners who are not content merely to attach soft lenses onto eyes. Manufacturers, as well as suppliers of care products will undoubtedly benefit from significant parts of the book. Larke provides insight into several misconceptions... the book should be purchased widely" Optical Practitioner "truly absorbing... Whether newly interested in contact lenses, working towards your certification, or an old hand, this is a book that should be kept close by, refreshing the memory of the latter and providing a clear and concise fount of information for the former. It is clearly an exhaustive reference book which should be part of the armoury of any contact lens optician." Dispensing Optics, April 1999 "the style is clear and accessible. The text is amply supported by illustrations, graphs, tables and photographs. ...an authoritative and comprehensive discussion of the topics covered." British Journal of Ophthalmology "The Eye in Contact Lens Wear provides a timely reminder that the knowledge gained over the past 30 years is as useful today as ever." Clinical and Experimental Optometry, November-December 1999

Synopsis
When first published in 1985 this book was readily welcomed by students of advanced courses in contact lens practice and practitioners seeking further information and guidance on the treatment of patients' after-care problems. Since the first edition, however, significant progress has been made in the understanding of the mechanisms of the eye leading to a much more profound knowledge of the changes that take place during contact lens wear. Completely revised and substantially re-written, this second edition takes full account of these advances. The chapter on the cornea by Professor Hodson presents the first authoritative review of corneal stromal physiology. In addition, new chapters have been included on Lens deposition and spoilation and Contact lens associated infections and related conditions. The fundamental approach of the book remains the same and The Eye in Contact Lens Wear continues to provide the most comprehensive reference text on the subject for the modern practitioner.
