The popular Burnout series returns to its roots with Burnout Dominator. Unlike the previous two iterations, in which gameplay was centered on spectacular crashes, Dominator encourages racers to merely push to the brink of complete disaster rather than go over the edge, and it offers a reinvention of the long lost burnout as a reward. Not seen since 2003's Burnout 2: Point of Impact, burnouts are the result of using an entire boost meter at once. Chaining burnouts together is the primary way to score points in a number of game modes, and courses have been designed specifically to handle the tremendous speed of multiple burnouts in a single race.<br><br>Though the importance of crashing has been toned down a bit in Dominator, reckless driving is still more than encouraged, as evidenced by the return of road rage mode in which gamers are encouraged to take down opponents by slamming them into other vehicles and environmental objects. Similarly dedicated to dangerous driving is the new maniac mode that awards points for speeding through oncoming traffic, drifting through corners with reckless abandon, and chaining burnout after burnout together. Also new is the signature shortcut feature that rewards racers for sending opponents careening into barriers that conceal alternate routes. <br><br>Burnout Dominator features a mostly new roster of vehicles with an emphasis on American and European cars. Many of the more unusual hotrods from previous Burnout games have returned and a whole new group of classic cars has been added. Gamers can unlock vehicles in world tour mode by winning races, racking up points, and completing tasks like drifting a specific distance. Multiplayer options include Ad-hoc support for up to six people as well as a party mode that lets players take turns competing in the same event. Handheld gamers also have the potential luxury of downloading two courses completely unique to the PSP at no extra charge.

    What happened to CRASH events?

    I am a big fan of the Burnout series, on both PS2 and PSP. Normally, I am not much of a racing game enthusiast, simply because I suck at driving games. Nobody likes to play two player racing games with me because I compensate for my lack of driving skill by driving dirty and making my opponent crash. I'm really good at crashes. If you are familiar with the Burnout series, you will understand, then, why I like it. Dirty driving is the point. Causing crashes is encouraged, even celebrated. And the Crash Events have always been my crowning glory: floor it into traffic and cause as much damage as possible. I always play the crash events first, completing races only when required to unlock more crash events. I get around to all of the other events sooner or later, but I live for the ...

    Great game for the Burnout series :-)

    The graphics look great! the umm load times. seem to be the same kinda slow but that the same with all the burnouts :-(. the handling of the cars is much much improved the handle better and the new burn combo feature is awesome!! Its just sad that they took out the crash challenges out but its like incorporated in the races you can do the aftertouches in the normal races :-)

    ??What Happened???

    Okay . . . I played and thoroughly enjoyed Burnout Legends and then I must have snoozed too long cause then some yahoo went and stole our "Burnout" name title and put it to this lame-oh game. Did anyone get a glimpse of the perp? I want to report him/her to the "you suck" police and have them force-fully removed from this excellent name platform before they do any more damage. Give this to someone less fortunate (not being mean here - they simply would appreciate it better than you because they have-not!!) and go spend your hard-earned benjamins' on Flat-out. It'll heal the wound and make you forget you ever spent those rare bills on something so unworthy of all the sweat you put in at work. Then when you are done with Flat-Out (could be awhile) give it to that poor person you ...

    BURNOUT

    great game. if you like burnoout series you will like this. this is a different kind of burnout game. there are no crash events like Burnout legends. but i has maniac mode, near misses, burnout challenge, burning lap, takedowns and racing to make up for it. also graphics are a lot better than burnout legends. realistic and also better car control. I was expecting a game like aburnoout legends, but as I played i fell in love with this game. amazing. highly recommended
