Card as Opposed to onboard
I got this card because my motherboard only has SATAII and I got an SSD with SATAIII. Everything went smooth, but occasionally the card is not recognized in the bios and the computer won't boot, this usually only happens on cold boot. I have updated the Bios but this didn't help. I have reset the Bios to search for a boot drive for 3 seconds and this seems to work. I think SATAIII works best if it is onboard the motherboard, not sure if this card is faster then the onboard SATAII, but this seems to work out OK until I get a new computer,I got this card because my motherboard only has SATAII and I got an SSD with SATAIII. Excellent addon for older computers.
I needed a SATA III card for my older computer to have my new solid state drive get the speed it should get. This brings my computer up to the read/write speeds that the drive specs say it should be getting. The USB 3.0 was a nice added bonus to what I needed anyway. It was relatively easy to get installed and running in a short amount of time. It works fine in the x16 video card slot on my motherboard just as the specs say it should. The drivers were easy to install once the card was installed.I needed a SATA III card for my older computer to have my new solid state drive get the speed it should get. High Speed on the cheap.
Absolutely no installation problems. Plugged it in and it worked. You need a mainboard that has a PCIe 2.0 x4 or faster slot. I got a 25% speed increase on a SSD hard drive. It takes 10 seconds longer to boot because the system has to initialize the card, but it shuts down in 3 seconds.

I used this card to upgrade an MSI 870-g45 for better SSD performance
This 8 year old MB only contained sataII ports. Install was very easy and booted on the first try in WIN10 after simply installing card and remounting the SSD. Crystal Mark showed a jump from 260MB sec to 425MB sec. This nice speed jump breathed new life into an old PC.

Decent card for adding USB3 and a SSD
Got this to replace a similar Asus U3S6 that Windows 10 wasn't entirely happy with. My boot times have dropped, and Win10 seems a bit peppier. The single downfall of this controller is a single PCIe lane for the USB3 controller, and another single lane for the AHCI SATA controller. Its a PCIe x2 card, but the individual controllers don't share the overall bandwidth. As a result, a single SSD will do OK, but a higher end SSD won't hit top speed. But if you are short on PCIe slots and have an older system that is otherwise decent but needs both SATA3 and USB3, then this board is the best compromise solution out there.Got this to replace a similar Asus U3S6 that Windows 10 wasn't entirely happy with.
