Sorted my dewalt dc725
Purchased my Dewalt dc725 drill off Ebay, after a while I noticed that the drill was getting sluggish and throwing out quite a few sparks. I ordered the brush kit and installed it myself. Its a simple job, remove the screws from the drill, pull apart the two halves, unplug the old brush set and then plug in the new set. I cleaned the motor armature with fine emery cloth for good measure. The drill now runs sweet as a nut, only the odd spark which is normal because of the auto brake feature.Purchased my Dewalt dc725 drill off Ebay, after a while I noticed that the drill was getting sluggish and throwing out quite a few sparks. DeWAlt brush set
Although the old brushes were not as bad as first thought, I fitted these anyway. After watching a YouTube video, I removed the old set , carefully lifted out the entire motor and gearbox assembly, and with some 1200 grit wet and dry, cleaned up the commutator, and with a scalpel gently scraped out the grooves in it. After reassembling, I now have a 'like new' DeWalt DC725 without the sparking or electrical smell I had before.Although the old brushes were not as bad as first thought, I fitted these anyway. Saved me buying a new drill!
The new brushes arrived very quickly. They are a fiddle to fit without having any instructions but it wasn't rocket science. Biggest problem was aligning motor body to let the case shut properly. Drill now works like new so I have no excuse to go out and get a new one.
