    The pretty cover was the only good thing about this book!

    This book was assigned by my book group and I fully expected to like it. However, I didn’t get very far before deciding it just didn’t make much sense and I didn’t really care about the main character. (SPOILER:) For instance: A completely sheltered girl from a good family a hundred or so years ago, she meets a handsome guy walking down the street and immediately goes and has sex with him. Seriously?! I’m m glad I didn’t waste any more time on it than I did.

    Definitely a must-read !

    I am actually only about halfway through the book so far but it is a wonderful read. Author has an easy reading style. Story is riveting and so descriptive of the Dust bowl and the physical and emotional devastation of that time period. I love the protagonist, Elsa… she is strong, full of love for family, and ever hopeful for a new and better life. Definitely a must read for those who like to curl up with a cup of tea and a heartfelt story. Kristen Hannah is one of my favorite authors and this is one of her best !

    I will read The Four Winds all over again after I share it with my friends.

    Another compelling and beautifully written piece of historical fiction written by Kristin Hannah. I appreciate how startling many of the social and economic issues during the time of the Dust Bowl and The Four Winds setting are still prevalent today during the coronavirus pandemic: immigration issues, prejudice, poverty and mistrust of the government. Thank you for helping me to survive the winter and our 2nd year facing our global challenges associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
