Based on Sam Raimi's classically campy series of horror films that began with 1983's The Evil Dead, this action game follows the continuing, cursed adventures of Ashley J. "Ash" Williams. Ash was recently sentenced to the Sunny Meadows Institute for the Criminally Insane, after being falsely convicted of murdering his camping companions. When Ash's psychiatrist begins tampering with the Necronomicon -- an evil book of ancient magic that has been the recurring source of Ash's supernatural troubles -- all hell breaks loose (quite literally).<br><br>Once again, Ash is voiced by Bruce Campbell, who portrays the luckless hero in the films and previous Evil Dead games. Evil Dead: Regeneration plays like a combat adventure, in the fast-paced, fixed-camera style of the Devil May Cry or Onimusha games. Ash uses his "boomstick" shotgun and chainsaw prosthesis to blast and hack his way through nearly endless throngs of "deadites." Unlike earlier games based on the franchise, Evil Dead: Regeneration was developed by Cranky Pants Games, whose previous work includes the GameCube port of Volition's Red Faction II.

This game is so good you'll want to gather up your friends and take your ps2 to a nice quiet cabin in the woods so there's nothing around to interrupt you taking on the deadite army.

For Evil Dead fans, a video game starring everyone's favorite chainsaw-prosthetic toting badbay has so far been a reason to cringe. Until ED:Regeneration that is... In the world of gaming, it doesn't stand out as much more than mediocre, but fans of the series should finally have a reason to stop hating the gaming industry. Its controls are simple, the soundtrack and camera motion aren't headache-inducing, and you can finish it in about a day. So, given the foundation, just add some elements the fans will love, like extras giving a glimpse into the recording studio with Bruce, and a new half-deadite character that you can abuse for the purpose of saving the world. Evil dead regeneration
If you liked the first two games you would probably like this one . It's a little different because you don't run out of bullets so ammo was not an issue like the first two games. It's funny and a lot of fun. If you love evil dead the movies then this game is for you.

when I first turned on Regeneration and saw the graphics I was very impressed and thought this was going to be a step forward from Fistful of Boomstick. Some of the scenery was done very well. But unfortunately, they seemed to have spent so much time making the game look good, they forgot to make actual play equally as exciting. Regeneration starts off in the cabin in the woods. It was good to be back there and I was excited to see they brought the story line back to the creepy cabin. But just as you're getting into it, that level is quickly over. It was more like an intro. So you then find yourself in a mental institution that became possessed and over run with deadites. The line of travel is mostly limited to one hallway. you never get to search out and find hidden areas and objects. No challenging puzzles or objects to find and later use someplace else like in "Boomstick". It's very simplistic and quickly over. what a let down. This seems to happen throughout the game. Although I will admit as the game went further on, it did improve slightly. But it just wasn't challenging. The game constantly tells you what to do and never lets you figure things out on your own. You walk near an elevator, the triangle icon appears on screen and tells you to push the button. Never letting you figure anything out on your own. There are so many cinematic cut scenes that you're constantly watching the game like a movie and waiting to actually play. There aren't as many interesting weapons to pick up as you go along either. Some of the execution cut scenes are cool when killing deadites, but over all, I was let down by the lack of challenge of this game. The Sam character ( voiced terribly by Ted Raimi ) is just horrible and makes game play annoying at times. Picture Scrappy Doo doing a Joe Pesci imitation. But so completely typical and over the top. Just not funny at all. When you're controlling Sam in certain scenes, the music that comes on is just silly cartoonish music that doesn't fit with the scary theme of the game at all. Almost points out how stupid and unfitting the character is in this game. I love the Evil Dead movies and enjoy Bruce Campbells character and voice over a lot. But believe it or not, the earlier, more simplistic looking "Fistful Of Boomstick" was much more enjoyable. Hopefully they'll make some major improvements to actual game play the next time they take a shot at the Evil Dead series. And take a lesson from terrible characters like Scrappy Doo and Jar Jar Binks. Don't bother. Skip them entirely.
