Reviews
"A happy marriage of art and science."-- School Library Journal "Locker's paintings and text are poetic."-- Kirkus Reviews "Lushly romantic oil paintings . . . [and] poetic text, offer viewers a sensuous introduction to the water cycle."-- The Bulletin, Grade 1-6. How does water dance? From rain, to river, to lake, to sea, to cloud, with half a dozen more sidesteps in the circle. Each step is dramatized here with one of Locker's romantic Catskills wilderness landscape' or seascape' paintings. Changes in season, atmosphere, time of day, or weather alter the light and the palette, which is fairly subdued until the final crimson sunset. Each facing page has a haiku-like text describing the specific phenomenon ("In thousands of shapes I reappear/high above the earth in the blue sky./I float./I drift.") followed by an italicized identification ("I am the clouds"). This riddle like format could spark reader interaction. The paintings reappear, twice postage-stamp size, on the final three pages, each accompanied by a scientist's brief explanation of the water cycle's stages. This book is a happy marriage of art and science, although there is never a doubt as to the dominant partner. Patricia Lothrop-Green, St. George's School, Newport, RI

- 0***n (836)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThis transaction was a little bittersweet. The item arrived in lightning quick time. Shipping was very fast Communication was very good, However other than the shoddy packaging which I paid $6.50 for. I was a little nervous when I first saw it, because the magazine was kind of curved during its journey to me. However all good. Thank you very happy with my purchase.1977 POPULAR SPORTS GRANDSLAM MAGAZINE RANDY JONES SD PADRES Vintage baseball (#314028744478)
