About this product

Product Information

All places have their own legends, and Filgaia is no exception. Legends speak of a Blaze of Disaster that stained Filgaia with its flames and threatened to destroy the planet itself. But all was not lost. The Guardian Blade Argetlahm called to a young girl born to a noble family, and she became the Sword Magess. With the Guardian Blade and the Guardian of Desire, Lucied, the Sword Magess fought the Blaze of Disaster on an equal footing.

Seven days after she acquired the weapon, the Sword Magess disappeared from Filgaia wrapped in a torrent of light, taking the Blaze of Disaster with her. The Guardian Blade Argetlahm was left embedded in the earth. As time passed, the Sword Magess' tale became a familiar legend to all of Filgaia. But the final chapter of the legend has not yet been written.

Wild Arms 2 is the sequel to one of the PlayStation's first American RPGs. Like the first game, Wild Arms 2 is set in the land of Filgaia. Although this game sports a new cast of characters and some historical revisionism, fans will have no trouble recognizing many elements of the first game's world.

The game adopts a traditional role-playing style, with players leading a ragtag group of unlikely heroes through the 3D world completing quests, gaining experience, and generally doing good deeds while on their way to defeat the final bad guy. Wild Arms 2 does set itself apart with a few innovations, though. On the world map, players can use the search button to find gold, items and town locations. Players can also elect to evade some of the random enemy encounters in the game. Whenever the player's party is about to experience a monster encounter, a bubble with an exclamation point appears over their head. If the bubble is white with a black exclamation, players can avoid the battle by pressing the O button.

In a nod to its predecessor, Wild Arms 2's main characters each have an array of special tools unique to them. These tools include implements like throwing knives, bombs, and even steel-toed boots. Players must use these tools to solve the game's various puzzles.

Good JRPG, not my favorite in the series

This was the second Wild ARMs game I've played, and it's reminded me a lot why I've grown fond of this little series. The classic turn-based gameplay is comfortable, the characters are likeable, the story is decent, and the music has its highs and lows. However, Wild ARMs 3 has it beat due to a slightly better presentation and more strategy involved during battles, as well as an actual reason to replay the game. Wild ARMs 2 is still a good game, though. I recommend it if you're looking for something a little under the radar. :)

  • A remarkable gem that I didn't know I needed.

I've been a collector of the original Playstation for quite some time now, and in turn I've played most of the great RPGs on the system. I don't know how this one completly slipped my grasp, but man I'm glad I emulated this one. I ended up purchasing this after about an hour of playing because I couldn't stand emulating anymore. This game deserved a purchase through and through. This is the first time in quite a while I've actually fallen in love with a PS1 game. If you like turn based combat, and really great story telling, this is definitely for you. I will say one downside to this is the font they used for dialog boxes. It's sometimes hard to read, but I'm also viewing it on a 50 inch TV so maybe I'm too close lol. It just seems to need a black outline over the text, but other than that ...

  • not perfect, but close!

Wild Arms 2 was one of the greatest Playstation games I ever played. The story is actually rather engrossing (albeit it has certain moments that could have been improved, but hey there aren't many games that don't!), and the graphics are well done (although the battle scenes are somewhat choppy); a couple of things, however, that prevented the highest ranking here, is because some of the dialogue could have been improved (although it isn't as bad as hal-jordan made it out to seem), however it is not confusing. And the fact that you can't find any towns until you have been told about it is rather irritating; however, outside of these few downfalls, the story line is rather gripping, the side quests make the game worth exploring, and overall it is a must-own if you have a Playstation system.

  • Wild Arms 2

I love the wild arms series and I own all of them except this one as it was only sold in America. This game is as good as I hoped it would be and I would recommend this game to any rpg fan. This all the great elements that make a great game e.g Characters, solid game play, funny jokes and great combat system.

  • Great Game

After completing Wild Arms 1 this is a great sequel to jump to. Played about 5 hours so far!
