I can put the old battery pack back in the unit and it does work correctly with no shim or rubber band. Your sweeper battery spring contacts may have become slightly shorter over time, resulting in inadequate contact with the battery. Please use a pair of needle-nose pliers to gently pull the two contact springs upward and test it again. It is always a good idea to ensure that the springs are slightly raised to ensure good contact between the sweeper battery holder, charger, and battery.
