About this product

Product Information

In Sins of a Solar Empire, gamers must conquer planets and defeat their enemies to become the most menacing force in space. Both single- and multiplayer action takes place in real-time, and gamers may choose to play alone or challenge friends to a "domination fest."

To survive the hostile world, players must align with one of three factions: The Advent, the Vasari Empire, or the Trade Emergency Coalition. Each group is vying for top spot and may use force, technological research, democracy, alliances, and devious trickery to obtain the position. For example, the game features a bounty hunting system where gamers may silently offer a reward for the destruction of a particularly annoying enemy unit.

Players who would rather stay honest may use the diplomacy system to compromise with their adversaries instead of gaining power through illicit actions. Aside from combat, gamers colonize planets and harness resources that can improve a variety of their faction's functions.

Quick delivery. Excellent packaging. Value & description are *MEH* due to vast majority being broken scrap. Perhaps 6-7 usable pieces. Good eBayer, but this lot should be listed as “scraps from the bottom of a gamers kitbash drawer.”

Great seller of quality BattleTech mechs. Item is as described and depicted in images by seller... in fact, it looks even nicer in person. For something that is used, it looks new. Mech has beautifully sculpted details. Outstanding paint job that allows all of the sculpted designs to show through. Fast shipment, quick delivery. Seller did an outstanding packaging job to ensure the item was protected during shipment. Great seller to work with... A+++++ seller... highly recommended.

  • Comparable Game

I've been trying out multiple RTS games, such as Red Alert, War Craft, Age of Empire, Star Craft, Command&Conquer series, Supreme Commander, etc... This game in particular is considerably complicated and takes time getting comfortable with it, and it is almost the same as the traditional RTS games (gathering resources and such). Some of the nice features of this game is the graphics and being able to zoom in on battles, some of the things to consider is that its a very slow game, classes are not very different, and requires a decent graphics card and processor to run the game smoothly. If you like to win quickly with fast progress within the game play, then this game probably is not the best match. However, if you like to take your time to build your army, improving your "empire", or ...

  • Sins: Slow and Enjoyable

Pros: Creatively designed game, cool capital ships, music is ok, programming is excellent; runs smoothly on older computers, no DRM when playing solo or lan, intro movies/logos go away when you click, well designed in-game UI, nice custom map maker, gameplay can be balanced between war and economy, open to mods. Cons: No tradition rock/paper/scissors: few types of ships. Terribly chosen TEC unit voices, poor planet defense, slow start/time consuming (bad only if you're used to fast paced RTS games), pirates can be really annoying until you're more experienced. Get the expansion, it fixes most of the cons here. Really a well thought-out game.

  • Huge Disappointment--Read Before Buying

Huge disappointment I barely escaped wasting fifty bucks on “Spore” because rather than getting caught up in the media frenzy around that electronic version of the Edsel, I waited to see what the reactions of the gaming community were. Glad I waited. I did the same thing with Sins of a Solar Empire, which just goes to prove the old saw about the bear. (Sometimes he gets you and sometimes you crap in the woods … no, wait. Sometimes you crap in the woods and the bear gets you. Yeah, that’s it). Do not buy this game. It is the mutant offspring of a tactical turn based simulation and a fast-twitch real time simulation. Galactic Civilization meets StarCraft meets Homeworld. The results are ugly. You cannot pause. You cannot offer the same diplomatic options to your rivals as they ...

  • Sins of a Solar Empire...A Must BUY for RTS Lovers!

Pros: Love the ease of the interface. You can control the development of your empire w/o going thru so many menus. Finding units is simple. Graphics are excellent. Reminds me of Homeworld but with the management of your planet and society similar to Civ series. Auto on your units work nicely so you dont have to always be on top of every unit in every planet. I enjoyed it as much as Star Wars Empire at War(but at a bigger scale). Cons: No storyline. You may get tired of it if you get tired of shooter games in multiply mode when you start to do the same things over to win. No storyline like Homeworld. AI is pretty good but I seem to be doing the same thing every time I start a new game...make ships, attack planet, win, move on to the next, get attacked at home, defend, back to conquering ...

  • Sins of a Solar Empire - Extremely Addicting

First of all, let me just say that the night I received this game I stayed up until 5 a.m. playing it. It took me 7 hours straight to finish ONE medium size random map game. I enjoyed it the whole time, though. Some people might think that this game moves too slowly, even with game speed turned all the way up, so this game isn't for everyone. But if you're a fan of virtually ANY real-time strategy game, you'll most likely love this game. The graphics aren't stellar (no pun intended),so it doesn't really take full advantage of a powerful computer. That can be a good thing, though, if you have a less powerful computer, as this game has relatively low system requirements and scales well to the lower-end of the gaming PC spectrum. One bad thing gameplay wise is the space pirates that are ...
