Better than the official Google Home Mini & cheaper than the Google Home/ Home Max

Does everything the Google Home Mini can do, and then some. I have mine in my bedroom(just ordered one for the kitchen/great room), and the voice activated alarm with Google Home, along with the display for the clock, and temperature, are the 2 stand out features, but really surprised me was sound quality for such a small speaker, it sounds as if it should be twice as big, and really fills my bedroom. If I could afford it I would have one in every room of my home(except bathrooms lol). So if you are well established in the Google ecosystem, and really like the Google assistant, want better sound than the Home Mini has, but don't want to spend the extra money the Google Home/ Home Max cost, you need the time/temp display to replace an old alarm clock, then this is the speaker to get. Just remember if your internet, and/or WiFi goes down, this won't work(always set a backup alarm on your phone), and if you don't want to be heard for privacy reasons do turn off the mic with the button on the back of the speaker. 4 star product would be 5 star if the alarm would work without WiFi.

    good value but wrong product

This was advertised as an Insignia Voice Smart Bluetooth Speaker Google Assistant built in NS-CSPGASP-B U but it was an older ns-cspgasp. It is smaller, has no battery or handle and I don't know what else it might be missing feature wise. Nonetheless, it was a decent used price and works up to its capabilities and I don't plan to return it.

  • Well worth when it was on sale for $20 recently, should have bought 2!

Got this for a great deal at $19 and happy with purchase...wish I had bought 2 for that price. only 2 things I'm not overly happy with. 1st is even at the lowest setting the clock is still bright which bothers me when sleeping and if you’re someone that likes pitch black to sleep then you’ll be bothered by it too. Fortunately, you can shut-off the clock, but that defeats the whole purpose have having a clock in the first place. 2nd is unlike my Google Home Mini’s this device doesn’t seem to support continuous conversation meaning you can ask follow-up questions without needing to say “Hey Google” ...I actually use that feature quite a bit so was disappointed it doesn’t work on this unit. Lastly, if you ask for the weather it will show the temperature on the display, but only for 60 seconds...baffling...if it supports that feature why not show the temperature continuously. Would be nice to look at the display and see the outdoor temperature without needing to say “Hey Google, what’s the outside temperature”.

  • Good product and great features with latest firmaware update!

Surprised by the sounds quality, very good. With firmware updates manual it came with is less useful. Overall very good value for the money.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

It’s my best friend... I keep it right by my bedside and I can ask t questions and command it to play my favorite music at anytime and from any place in the room. I did think it would be bigger but the sound makes up for that, it’s not a big deal. Another issue is the fact that it always has to be plugged in so it’s not really a portable speaker and that kind of sucks coz now I have to buy a second one. Overall a good purchase except for the issue of always being connected to power. I’ll give it a 7/10

  • Use an iPhone to set it up

Great little product after you get it working. It wouldn't update using the Google Home app on Android. After 4 days of trying, I reset the unit, removed it from my Google Home profile and tried setting it up from scratch with my iPhone and it worked. There is an update step that happens on the iPhone version of Google Home but doesn't happen on the Androied version. Hope this helps a frustrated user.

  • At least I didn't pay retail

It isn't reliable as an alarm clock because it occasionally loses its wifi connection which makes the time go blank, and it doesn't have a battery backup in case the power goes out either. Also it doesn't seem to hear voice commands very well. If you don't feel like repeating yourself first thing in the morning, you can tap the softkey on top to snooze, but be careful as sometimes this dismisses the alarm altogether. I can see why this model was discontinued.

  • Great after firmware update

So, it arrived needing a firmware update. Before the update it wasn't picking up the timezone and had the wrong time. Google home did suggest an update, and I updated it. Update didn't exactly go smoothly - it got stuck reading "load" and was mostly unresponsive. But I did a factory reset, figuring I'd need to start over. Fortunately the firmware update had stuck, although I did have to go through the whole setup routine again. But the second setup went great and we really like it. Love that you can turn off the alarm by just whapping at the top. You can also turn it off by voice, of course, but I tend to be a bit gravelly when I first get up, and my echo dot didn't always understand me, so I like turning it off manually. Also like that display has different dimming levels. Overall very pleased.

  • Cannot recommend

Very erratic performance.... works one of four times I try it at best. Shuts down in a minute after turning on with a full charge. Drops WiFi signal. To be fair I purchased this as used on eBay....junk to me...many claim poor battery performance,,,maybe the battery is shot on this...gets hot when on charge.. no obvious battery compartment. Extremely disappointed..
