About this product

Product Information

Guitar Hero 5 for Sony PlayStation 2 is the fifth installment in the popular Guitar Hero series, offering an excellent playlist packed with music from many different genres. It also offers a variety of features that do not appear in previous games. Enjoy awesome opening and cut video sequences throughout the game. Like other Guitar Hero video games, Guitar Hero 5 lets you play lead guitar or other instruments in a digital rock band. You play along with the music and match notes in the guitar tracks as they scroll up the screen. When you play correct notes, you earn points while incorrect points reduces your score. Mastering a song boosts your score and builds up your Star Power. You can choose to play lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, or vocals. You can play with up to four players in a single session. This multi-instrument feature first appeared in Guitar Hero World Tour, but this version also lets you include multiple players on single instruments. You can play Guitar Hero 5 in single-player or multiplayer mode. In single-player mode, the gameplay involves building up Star Power. Quickplay Mode is a bonus feature that lets you put together your own set list and master it. Multiplayer mode lets you play with remote players or with friends on a local network. In multiplayer mode, each player earns separate Star Power, but your skills as a band still contribute towards Band Moments scores. Career Mode is available in both single-player and multiplayer modes. This feature involves going to venues to perform “live” shows with specific playlists and Challenges, which you or your band must master. Guitar Hero 5 also includes bonus modes and unlock options. Party Play involves playing random songs, letting you enjoy spontaneous gameplay. RockFest mode involves playing through 30-second snippets of songs with specific challenge modes assigned to each snippet. In the Music Studio setting, you can get crafty and create your own tunes by using samples, note recording, and mixing tools. Unlockables include avatars and clothing for your characters. This PlayStation game features a good playlist selection, including songs from Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Kings of Leon, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Weezer, Blur, and Queens of the Stone Age. Songs span several decades and genres, but rock music makes up the bulk of the playlist. You can also import songs from Guitar Hero World Tour, Smash Hits, and Metallica. Guitar Hero 5 for PS2 requires specialty accessories. Guitar controllers are a key part of the gameplay and make your gaming experience more realistic. These controllers feature elements of real guitars, such as realistic body shapes and whammy bars. You can find controllers in different colors, such as red, black, brown, and white. This version of the game also lets you play other instruments. Using these instruments requires bass guitar controllers, drum controllers, and microphones. The game does not require any additional software.

    Good songs, a little slow

Disk's in great condition, everything looks fine. Unfortunately the game itself obviously wasn't designed around ps2 hardware and is slower than World Tour loading wise, and both have notable stuttering for me during gameplay.

    Works, but Not Well

The game disc doesn't work consistently, you kind of have to futz with the disc a few times before it's readable. It works for now, just a little bummed it does that. It still works so I don't feel comfy giving it less than three stars, but also doesn't work well, so I can't give it 5.

  • It is what it is....

A goofy game where you get to be Kurt Cobain...he'd probably hate it, but for Nirvana fans like my girlfriend, its one of those no-brainer games that can be fun...

  • great!

C'mon, it's GH, they're all pretty decent for the most part..as in all GH games, there's always going to be a song or five that you hate.. Would love it if I could create my own GH from a list of all GH songs. Hey GH bigwigs, there's an idea that would go over extremely well!

  • Good game, but there's a down side.

Only lasts two days just quit working today. The game is amazing there is a lot of good songs. One of them is smells like teen spirit. And they have Johnny cash. Lasts two days but, I think it is just the game cause the first one I got lasts two days two so yeah really not the worth buy.
