    This is a really easy way to upgrade older Athearn loco's to get either DCC or simply better operation. I've installed several with no problems.

    Spend a few extra bucks and buy a full function decoder.

    Tried for several hours to get this item to work, but to no avail. It's getting proper voltage, but no motion and no lights. No instructions either from Athearn or anywhere on the web. Nothing, nada, zero info. No programming info. Not so much as a simple wiring diagram. Can't make it work.

    Nice update for older locomotives

    Would have given 5 stars but no instructions or the little black clips to lock the wires to the board like the stock dcc ready one come but it's a nice little board and just clips on top of the motor where the long pickup goes.

    A. great deal

    It came quickly but I haven't had a chance to use it because the Athearn locomotive needs the motor isolated from the chassis, but it looks like it will clip right onto the motor when I'm ready.
