  • Cal Taylor'a Great Book Unsung Giant C-133 Cargomaster!

Great book Remembering an Unsung Giant, C-133 Cargomaster. A plane before my time in the USAF. I like reading history of USAF Air Planes and Cal Taylor did a great job outing this book together.

  • Flawed Giant

This book is a detailed operational history of what was always a flawed airplane. The building of the C-133 was compromised in many respects, largely because of the specific job requirements which were demanded of it. I never flew it, but on several occasions flew the Dover C-124 which was dedicated to hauling propellers that would enable a grounded C-133 to resume its journey. I'll always remember the scuttlebutt and speculations going around the Officer's Club regarding the safety of the airplane, and I believe that there were C-133 pilots who were in fear of it. The book is based mostly of anecdotes and remembrances of flights made long ago by men with fading memories. It is aviation history at its finest.

  • Reflects the opinion of most of us maintainers who worked on her.

There is much detailed information on the development and service performed by the C-133 that only reinforced information that I personally had from working on the aircraft for three and a half years while on active duty with the USAF.
