Far into the future, various factions fight for the valuable melange spice that exists exclusively on Arrakis and is protected by fierce, gigantic sandworms. While the indigenous, blue-eyed Arrakisians wait for their Messiah to free them from the corrupt Harkonnens, the family Atreides endures infighting and political intrigue.     The one movie/video that resembles the book

    As stated this version follows the book more closely than any of the movies put out so far. While it is made on a low cost budget the acting/actors are first rate and it's well done

    It is a winner.

    The DVD was previously owned, but you would never tell by looking at it. It came in brand-new condition, like it had never been watched, and played like a charm. And for anyone who is a fan of Frank Herbert's Dune novels, this is a very entertaining film that is true to the book. I enjoyed it immensely.

    Any Dune is good Dune

    I missed this when it first came ot and was glad to see it available now before the upcoming film. The TV miniseries handled the Water of Life episodes very well.

    Dune done right.

    When I first heart that the Scifi Channel (before they fell on their faces and became the SyFy channel), was doing Dune, I was ambiguous about the idea. David Lynch had already done a tepid version that was barely recognizable. This version, done as it should be, in a six hour miniseries, is excellent. Direction, SFX (within their budget) and acting are all excellent. Well worth seeing again and again.
