    Not like mom's vacuum.

    When setting up the vacuum, you will need to follow the directions precisely. We initially thought the power bar was broken because it would not go on. We needed to unplug it, turn on the power button on the canister and restart/reset it. The suction is intense. We have many area rugs and initially the power bar ate the carpets. We had to play with it, to find a comfortable setting so we didn't continually jam the machine. If you are looking for a light weight vacuum, this is not it. The power bar is heavy. The canister is not. Over all, this is a powerful, well made machine, and appears to be made to last. I would recommend this unit, with these considerations.
