Synopsis
This collection offers a new rationale and framework for international development cooperation. Its main argument is that in actual practice, development cooperation has already moved beyond aid (i.e. assistance to poor countries) and onto issues such as the ozone hole, global climate change, HIV, drug trafficking, and financial volatility. These issues are not poverty-related but instead concern global housekeeping, which helps to ensure an adequate provision ofglobal public goods. Contributors include Amartya Sen, the 1998 Nobel Laureate in Economics, Jeffrey Sachs of the Harvard Institute for International Development, Joseph Stiglitz of the World Bank, andmany others., This collection offers a new rationale and framework for international development cooperation. First time purchase from this seller, and I'd buy from them again. Book was nicely packaged to keep it secure during travel. As a lifelong bibliophile, I appreciate sellers who care about the books they send out. Condition was as described, and I believe that the photo in the listing was the same as the book I received: no stock photo used. Item shipped the same day as purchase, and arrived in 6 days, including a Sunday and a holiday.
