This compilation features the pilot episode ("A Great Deliverance") and the first two complete seasons of the BBC television series THE INSPECTOR LYNLEY MYSTERIES, first broadcast in 2003 and based on the novels of Elizabeth George. Pairing upper-crust detective Inspector Lynley (Nathaniel Parker, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD) with his working-class partner Barbara Havers (Sharon Small, ABOUT A BOY), the series chronicles the Scotland Yard duo's efforts to crack difficult cases while coming to terms with each other's class differences. The first two seasons feature eight episodes, including "For the Sake of Elena," "Playing for the Ashes," "Deception on His Mind," "Well-Schooled in Murder," "A Suitable Vengeance," "Payment in Blood," "In the Presence of the Enemy," and "Missing Joseph."

    Good Entertainment

    Inspector Lynley is not necessarily the most likeable guy, in my opinion. He is arrogant, chauvinistic and can be a bully. He is not why I like watching the Lynley mysteries. I like it because I like British mysteries, I like it because of the way these mysteries are presented: nothing too gory, nothing too gritty. But a more gentle presentation of cases to be investigated. And let's not forget the scenery. If you like beautiful English countryside and English mysteries - you will enjoy the Lynley mysteries.
