"This story shows that the slight wind created by signing may seem small but can subtly transform the world, creating, as Pottle puts it in an author's note, "a fantastic storm that could shift mountains and rearrange rivers"... The brightly colored illustrations lovingly capture the characters' signing as butterflies swirl across the pages." - Kirkus, A Bookstagang Best of 2024 Picture Book Award Winner A High Plains Book Awards Finalist "This story shows that the slight wind created by signing may seem small but can subtly transform the world... Synopsis
A magical picture book about a Deaf girl who creates a butterfly with Sign Language and sends it on a journey around the world. On the day of the talent show, Aurora's hands tremble. No matter how hard she tries to sign, her fingers stumble over one another and the words just won't come. But as she's about to give up, she spots a butterfly. Using her hands to sign the ASL word for "butterfly," Aurora sends a magical butterfly of her own into the world, inspiring Deaf people across the globe to add their own. The butterflies grow in numbers and strength as they circle back to Aurora, bolstering her with the love and support of her worldwide Deaf community. Deaf picture book creators author Adam Pottle and artist Ziyue Chen combine powerful text and sweeping art into a moving story of resilience and self-belief.

Item description from the seller
Seller feedback (285,843)
- u***g (121)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem was priced well and a good value, received in a very timely manner and well-packaged. Was in the exact condition described and appearance matched seller's picture(s). Would recommend seller unreservedly and will do business with them in the future. Although customer service was not needed for this sale, I have dealt with Book Outlet numerous times over the years and, when necessary, can say their customer service team is top-notch!The Man in Black and Other Stories (#306170643527)
- i***c (894)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThis is a frustrated positive feedback. I am always perplexed when sellers choose to ship via an "off-brand" shipper, e.g., OSM Worldwide. This tends to delay the time it takes to get to me vs more "traditioaal" shipped, e.g., USPS, UPS, or FED-EX. This is a pretty good seller. The price was good, the shipping pretty prompt (though deliver took a bit longer than I expected), and the communication was pretty good as well. The Men We Need: God's Purpose for the Manly Man, the Avid Indoorsman, or Any Ma (#365676100036)
- 2***h (1823)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe book was carefully packaged and arrived in perfect condition. (Nothing is more upsetting than to buy a "coffee table" book of photos and have it arrive in a tattered condition due to insufficient packaging.) In this case, it arrived in the condition that was advertised by the seller. Thanks so much!!
