    Big hit with the kids

    Used an off-the-shelf boxed cake mix, came out nice. Used shortening instead of oil, can't remember if I dusted the shortening w/ the powdered cake mix or not. Be sure to grease every little cranny (easier said than done!) Center filling can be anything you want, and you can pipe frosting on the top, even put a name or whatever in the big oval on top. I chose to hand wash this item, and that, too, is time-consuming. But when I brought the cake out for my son's birthday celebration, all the kids were delighted, and one even requested a reprise for their own birthday! If you were short on time, you could cut each baked half in half horizontally and get two "cookies" instead of one, albeit thinner ones (and one wouldn't be ornamental on top). MAKE SURE that your oven is level, and use ...

    Good Quality Product

    Product was packed well and arrived in a timely fashion. Had difficulty releasing cake from pans. Even though I greased and dusted the pans well (1st time with Crisco 2nd with Pam) I had to make the cakes twice and both times they stuck and the embellishment for the top layer NEVER appeared, so I improvised. All in all, everyone was pleased with the outcome.
