Plus, you have the option to increase the size of the font. Also on the display is the date and time. Additionally, the backlight time can be increased to keep the keypad and display lit long enough to make that call.The keypad on the Samsung Haven cell phone is easy to use. The keys are large and domed, and they offer feedback so that you know you've pressed the key. The number 5 button has bumps on it to help you find your way about the dial pad. The telephone can easily be silenced by pressing the pound (#) key, which turns on the vibrate mode.The Haven is easy to charge. You don't have to search for the small port on the telephone to insert the even smaller end of a charging cable. Instead, these Samsung phones come with a convenient charging cradle. Just plug the cradle into an outlet using the small AC adapter and leave it in place.     Great phone for seniors.

    Bought this phone for my 89 year old mom. Despite some confusion at times due to Parkinsons, she's doing very well using this phone. Had a serious problem at first with the volume buttons on the side - they were too easy to turn to off while holding the phone. The result was no ring when I called her and no answer - not good. Solved the design flaw by putting a thick layer of hot melt glue on the volume buttons to make them less sensitive. The phone is a good size with large buttons, good volume ( when not accidentially turned off), and I like the dedicated 911 button.

    Don’t buy

    The phone can not be activated by strait talk or Verizon. The phone will not take any SIM card and Verizon will not activate cuz technology is not compatible with this type of phone any longer.

    Simple Phone Beats out Smart Phone Any Day!

    I determined the best type of phone is a simple phone; I used to have several smartphones where the sole focus of operation had been set on features as opposed to the phone itself; i found that smartphones were able to download, stream, send and receive just fine but I would get in return alot of disconnected calls, poor service/signal quality and agravation with clients. I decided to switch to a phone with none of the features and the simplicity of a "phone". I have been able to confirm that if you take away all the bells and whistles and the phone is just a phone, it works great all the time offering you excellent signal and call clarity and no more dropped calls.     Samsung Haven; A Good Phone for Old Timers that still like to talk

    The Samsung Haven is a great phone for older people that only need to talk on the phone and text from time to time. Easy to use and uncomplicated with limited options. Large easy to read text and large buttons as well as audible message alerts and voice activated commands make it ideal for seniors and basic users alike. Very basic tools include Calendar, Alarm Clock, and Calculator. Basic accessories include speaker phone, and wired ear-piece. No data or Web capability. Texting is via numeric keypad w/word recognition. No camera but photos can be received. Battery life is good with regular use.

    Great phone at a bargain price, would recommend for elderly parents

    I bought this phone for my mother and it is a great phone for older people. The keys are large and easy to see, and also slightly raised with spaces between the keys making it easier to use. It has a 911 button feature for 1 push emergency dialing. I purchased this phone about 2 years ago for my mom and she recently lost it at the store. Unfortunately the jerk that found it did not return it so we had to buy another one. It is a great phone, with great features, easy to read screen and good battery life.
