About this product

Product Information

Magic Carpet is a port of a PC title released in 1994 and includes the 20 additional levels found in Magic Carpet: The Hidden Worlds. There are a total of 70 levels in all. You play the part of a wizard's apprentice who must restore equilibrium to the world.

As the title suggests, players are given the opportunity to fly on a carpet. Collect magical powers by shooting the balls (mana) that are floating throughout each world. Shooting each ball will result in them changing to your color (white). Then, let your hot air balloons pick them up and bring them to your castle before the other wizards get to your mana and change it to their color. That's the main objective of the game.

So where does the mana come from? Well, all of the 13 different beasts that fly or walk around in each of the worlds contain a certain amount of it. When they are destroyed it's released. You complete a world when a predetermined amount of mana is stored in your castle. The more mana that is collected, the more spells you have access to, a maximum of 20 different spells can be found in the game.

  • What....?

This game is very hard to explain because it's a mix of FPS(first person shooter),Flight Simulator, and RPG(role playing game).I'll do my best to explain the game to you. As you fly around, you shoot fireballs at different types of baddies(Giant Worms,Crows). After defeating enemines you must collect the mana it drops. After collecting so much mana you have to build a Castle to hold your mana in(?).Get some more mana and your Castle will make a Hot Air Balloon to go and collect the mana, but you must protect the Balloon from enemies while it collects for you.You do this till your castle is big enough. Sounds strange right?Well it is!But,it sucks you in after a the first few minutes. Each level is hugh(even today)and if you find the Urns scattered about you get access to more spells than the 3 ...

  • Good version ( for the most part) ( in ways)

Even though the consoles in those days couldn't handle arcade version ports, I think the sega cd has more frames. An arranged soundtrack, and I think close to the arcade version (in a way) I think that was the best version to me.
