I use this lens mostly between 16-24 mm and it gives great sharp pictures anywhere in between. It is great for landscape photography. I couldn't justify buying the 2.8 16-35mm because of the price difference. Beside, I will never use an aperture less than 4.0 outdoor during daylight. Whatever the circumstances, I can compensate with the shutter speed and/or the ISO using a tripod. Overall, it is a great lens and I think I made the right decision.

Item received in perfect condition as described. I’ve shot video and stills on a couple of different camera bodies and the lens has performed perfectly on all of them. Nails focus on moving targets even on a 5D classic. Image quality is top notch. Image stability for video works really well on a hand held Canon c300 mkii. Looking forward to using this on many shoots to come.

The 16mm is the big draw here, of course, but the Canon "L" quality and dependability and niceties are also as expected: hood is included and the lens has a gasket by the mount. Canon original means that the free Canon DPP RAW-processing software automatically corrects aberrations. IS is nice to have, too, and the telephoto end of 35 mm is also good to have. It also accepts standard (for pros, anyways) 77mm filters, which means you can use a UV filter for protection, ND for waterfalls, etc.

This is a very sharp lens for landscape photography.Prior to this lens I had used Nikon 14-24mm F2.8G with an adaptor for my canon camera or the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 lens for landscape. These two lenses are big and require special adapter for their large filters.Hence, I wanted a smaller sized lens that I can use with standard size 4 x 6 filters and adapter. I decided on this lens over the Canon 16-35 mm F2.8L III because of cost and the F4L has image stabilization for hand held shots. Besides I seldom shoot below 8 for my landscape pictures, so the F2.8 aperture was not a huge selling point for me.I shoot between 11-22 with tripods. You cannot go wrong with this lens.It is a very sharp lens and provides good color rendition of the objects.

This lens is sharp and has image stabilizing. It's about the same size as the F2.8 version, which is surprising. It is what you would expect from a Canon L lens. Somewhat expensive new, but you can get a minty used one for $500 which is great.
