Going on an 8 day trip in the remote wilderness of Washington state. Local law does not yet require a Bear container, but it is always a good idea to use one. Some reviews and forums suggest to repackage freeze-dried foods into Ziploc bags, in order to fit more into the canister. Here is an idea of how much Backpacker's Pantry Freeze-dried 2-serving meals can fit into one canister, unopened, in its original packaging: 2- Coconut Key Lime Pie 2- Colorado Omelet 2- Huevos Rancheros 1- Multigrain Buttermilk Hotcakes 2- Granola with Milk & Bananas 1- Chili Macaroni & Beef 1- Pad Thai 1- Thai Style Coconut Curry with Beef and enough room on top for 2- Ramen Noodle Soups Each meal is approximately 2 servings depending on each person's dietary needs, I eat a lot, so to last 8 days I will need to buy a second canister.
