A holocaust survivor left germay after the war ; settled in new york city, got married had 2 children and when her husband died she studied Buddhism. Opened a center i the sate of wasihintgon and it is a retreat now, and also began one in her native Germany. When she passed she had written a number of books ansi bought this one and she also wrote When the Eagle Flies, a book about the teachings & prophecies of padmasambavha and a few more I am now reading Who I my self? which tells tha t we are not who we are. etc. It is as good for beginners. as well as advanced students. since she is clear and concise and one of the first besides the Buddha to advise using the Jhanans to attain enlightenment or rigpa or Nirvana, whichever you may choose to call it, when you surpass the need to live in the relative world, as most of us see it. You transcend through the teachings and the mediations we must do to get there. I highly recommend it. she is still great influence for current Buddhist students. If you are interested in learning how to have peace in your life, I definitely recommend this book. It is one of my favorite books and I keep it close even though I have read it several times. It has an awsome lovingkindness meditation that I find very helpful during the times I am not feeling so tolerant or loving. It is easy to read and understand. Especially good for anyone who is interested in learning about the Buddhist spiritual path.
