  • Best of the James Gang - Cassette tape

For fans of Joe Walsh, the tunes on this tape are a must. I chose to buy it on cassette because they are convenient for me to use, they are very inexpensive, and they last. Joe was one of the early pre-shredder guitar heroes, and to this day he can turn a musical phrase with the best. You can recognize him almost every time. As a semi-inclined guitarist I was greatly influenced by him. However, I also think his gift for lyrics is vastly underrated. Certainly his "The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get" album (which contains "Rocky Mountain Way") is a perfect example of Joe's ability to to put words and music together, and ranks as an all-time classic. This tape however precedes that album by a few years, and is a nice testament to his early development as a singer, songwriter, and ...

  • 60's all American R&R(when rock was regional)

Before the Eagles, or any one heard of Stealy Dan there where basics. a point of origin, like J.Geils was from boston, and Steve miller, calif. and then there was the James Gang. Woodstock was only a year past and musicans where looking to explore new directions. that is what early Joe Walsh and this band where about, the short period of musical activity does little to dim the excellent performance of this 3piece rock group, it was a new direction that became the foundation of the Eagles, and others. i always remember the James Gang as a exciting step into truely American rock roots, and if you listen to the wind, you just might hear the faint cords of funk 49? i often do. enjoy the music.
