  • great reference... even for a beginner!!

    I bought this book to suplement an intro to C++ I was taking that didn't have a text book required for the class. I found the descriptions very helpfull and in fact this book was way better than the lectures in the class. If you are just starting out, Herb has a book called "A beginner's guide to C++" which is little chunks of this one. This book sort of assumes you know at least a little about programming but is pretty good for newbies like me too. This thing is a hefty 1000 pages and it is just as the title syas, a reference. I would recomend this book to anyone from the beginner to a full blown pro who just wansts to have a handy reference around especially if you jump around other languages like C# and JAVA which have a little different syntax.
