Great for beginners, but make sure you double check your pronunciation!
I purchased this product because I have a lot of Portuguese backround. I know how to speak Portuguese, but I was looking for a book that could help me to get a better understanding of the grammar rules. This book does an excellent job helping you to understand how to speak Portuguese from the basics, great for beginners! One thing that I don't really like, is the pronunciation guides in the parentheses. They are a little confusing if you don't have a previous knowledge of the sounds that letters make. However, if you listen closely to the CD, or you get online and listen to a few words, this aspect can be quickly overcome ;) Good luck with your purchase and learning! very helpful book
This book is really good if you want to learn a language for a trip, but not if you want to be fluent of course. This works better as brazilian portuguese than european portuguese and it really helped me speak like a native brazilian. the dialogue cd helps too!

Portuguese for Dummies
The best book I've found that shows you how to pronounce the words, since I've learned portuguese is a very hard language to learn. It helps me tremendously when my friends say something in portuguese I can converse back. Love these dummy books.

Great way to learn another language. It is very similar to the spanish language but it is a little complicated to roll your tongue on a few words. I like this book alot.
