    Unique and uncommon folk stories!

    I like the methods used in the creation of this tv show. I like the puppetry and the style of the special effects. I am very glad that Jim Henson and everyone decided to use old folk stories that are not common fairy tales such as Hansel and Grethel, three little pigs, and little red riding hood. I enjoy it and know that kids would too.

    This is a great DVD. My kids (7 and 9) viewed a friends' copy and loved it. Fantastic storytelling by the late Jim Henson. . .excellent for school age kids, completely enjoyable for adults; mythology and folklore come alive in an exciting way. Classic stories with good messages in a creative presentation. Even though this program is over 15 years old, it doesn't seem dated because of the timeless quality of the stories. I think it would be a bit too scary and sophisticated for preschoolers. As homeschoolers we try to be selective about the educational value of our kids' entertainment; this DVD is definately up to our standards.
