About this product

Product Information

Rockstar Games, the industry's lightning rod for controversy, continues its reputation for edgy, unusual material in Bully: Scholarship Edition for Wii, an enhanced version of the PlayStation 2 game with eight new missions, four additional classes, two-player mini-games, and unlockable items. Starring a juvenile delinquent in a reform school for troubled teens, Bully has players attending classes, socializing with other students, and exploring the grounds before curfew. Fifteen-year-old Jimmy Hopkins reluctantly attends the strict Bullworth Academy for a year, during which he'll develop skills, befriend peers, romance girls, and make a name for himself as either a hero or a miscreant.

The world in Bully in many ways adheres to a structured schedule, with students attending two periods of classes and engaging in other daily routines. Yet there is also a degree of freedom in how players go about their daily tasks. They can elect to skip classes and cause mischief, at the risk of being sent to the principal's office for reprimanding. There are also missions to undertake on behalf of the five main cliques populating the school: jocks, nerds, greasers, preps, and bullies. Hopkins can interact with each character positively or negatively, through carefully worded dialogue or via pranks such as shoving students in lockers or pouring itching powder on garments.

Activities Hopkins will engage in include zipping across campus on a skateboard; pedaling through town on "borrowed" bikes; playing video games in his dorm room; signing up for dodgeball, boxing, or wrestling in the gym; and even snapping photos for a yearbook. Mission types range from straightforward errands to more elaborate stealth and slingshot shooting segments. While there are no guns in the game, weapons such as baseball bats, garbage can lids, and similar items can be found within the environment. Hand-to-hand combat options include combos, disarm moves, and "humiliation" attacks, with a control system that relies more on timing than on learning complicated commands.

  • Originality Strikes Gold at Bullworth.

Out of 5 stars, this game deserved 5 stars. On a 1 to 10 scale, I would give it a 8.5-9.0. This game is awesome, but definitely not for all ages. Why not? Bully elements, language, etc. I like games that shine with orinality, because let's face it: We don't need 50,000 shooters that are Halo-clones (or 1 Halo for that matter). This game is quite addictive. Very few games exibit that same "do not put that controller down." This game is stinkin' hilarious too. Everything just meshes together and comes off like a TV comedy show. A couple of glitches here and there, and I rolled the credits with only 60% complete. Side quests are easy to miss, partly due to the fact that you don't know if a task is going to continue the story or just be a task. ...

  • Engaging and great story line.

I'm not your typical "sit in front of the video console for hours" kind of guy. I leave that to my 17 and 15 year old sons. But something about this game intrigued me. Role playing without all the shoot-em-up, kill or be killed atmosphere. Admittedly, I beat up more kids than I would have thought, but it was mostly due to the fact that they pestered me, so I guess they had it coming to them. :) But the narrative and the tasks related to the narrative are what really got me totally engrossed. It took me over 26 hours of play time to reach the conclusion of the story and now am in "Endless Summer" where I can now work to complete tasks and gather items I didn't during the story. Bully is not for the young child. With a "T" rating, that should be obvious. With its fighting, sexual references, ...

  • Any game that allow you to choose "tighty whities" for in game clothing get

Bully. What can I say about Bully. I have always enjoyed Rockstar titles, and Bully did not disappoint. I could go on and on about this, but I will make it short and sweet: any game that allow you to choose "tighty whities" for in game clothing gets a thumbs up in my book. With a pretty good storyline, Rockstar's free-wheeling game engine, plenty of side missions to complete, and enough gameplay to keep you busy for weeks, Bully is a winner... not to mention that if used properly, you can teach your kids to not be bullies with this game.

  • Blowing off steam!~

This game is becoming a favorite fast in our household. I purchased it for my boyfriend (35) and his interest seems to be kept easily. In Bully you play a boy who runs around trying to pass the usual school classes, English, Gym, Science, Music, Chemistry and Art. You also have punishment duties or fun missions outside of school when you are granted access off of the fenced in private school. Great game to blow off steam to if you have had "One of those days."
