One of my all time favorites!
While watching this, one must remember that this was produced before special effects where common place. The visuals were done with excellent camera shots, interesting lighting, coupled with fabulous music by Tangerine Dream. I understand that the director Michael Mann was not happy with this movie and wished it would disappear, much to the chagrin of those of us who love it; this may be one of the reasons it cannot be readily found on DVD. It is one of the best depictions of the battle of good against evil I have seen. It depicts "evil" as the unseen energy force around us that manipulates and feeds on itself, reeking havoc, with its only enemy being "good". Do yourself a favor and watch this movie; do yourself an even bigger one and read the book!While watching this, one must remember that this was produced before special effects where common place. Fantastic sci-fi horror movie
This old Scott Glen movie is a rare hard to find item,but well worth the hunt if you can find a descent copy on vhs that has not been played to death!The keep is a cidel of evil in a tomb guarded by a priest.It also has lots of action/special effects with crazy killer german soldiers.The evil within is a sight to see...Good flick...highly recommend. -Hillery-

This is a unique film. It has some stars before they were famous. It is based in WWII in Romania. Germans release an ancient evil that wants to escape the prison it was left in. Using deception as its ally to corrupt a jewish man to help the evil out. An ancient watcher of the keep is summoned to put the evil back. It is a very good film plot and acting.
